How to Detect Misrepresentation in JOBS (New Updates)

It has been 5 months since I first wrote an article on How to Detect Misrepresentation in Jobs, but still I continue to receive a lot of comments from disgruntled individuals on their experiences with the firm in question.

Right in our very home, again, a bad experience would have happened. Steph, one day about two months ago told Vince that she had an appointment in Ortigas. Thinking that it was another of those advertising or tv gigs that Steph would every now and then go to, and since Steph’s mother would wait for her, Vince just stayed home for this school projects. It was only when Vince tried to put together the pieces of Steph’s earlier stories, did it occur to him that, “omg! she’s going to Octagon Building”. True, enough, Steph was already in the elevator at the time Vince called her up—the door opening in the 15th floor. To cut the story short, Vince was able to persuade Steph not to go for the appointment. And yes, the person who called Steph had the same spiel/script as most of the others who felt “betrayed” with how the marketing people sweet-talked people to come for the meeting. Yes, the company may be legit, but what is in question is the way they do their marketing—to the extent of seeming misrepresentation.

BA continues to get comments for his two posts, here and here (with a few write ups from Angelo who always come to our rescue in similar situations), but he has closed them for comments—tired and fed up, maybe. Enough is enough for him.

I can only advise anyone, who in future would encounter a similar situation, to be able to discern what may be best for him or her. Needless to say, times are hard nowadays, and lucrative offers might be too difficult not to consider, or even turn down. But at the expense of what?

Shocks! They never stop do they? tsk tsk.. I have informed people in our course about it since Ateneo Juniors are more susceptible to that job misrepresentation since they coin it as a ‘management trainee job’ related to Ateneo’s SOMBA (School of Management Business Accelator). I was reluctant enough to go when I saw some blogs posting about it.

P.S That building gives me the creeps when I pass by it during my job interviews in companies in Ortigas. It’s the building big ‘bagwa’

Hi there!! I was brought to this seminar by a relative some time back. All the while I thought we were going to a meeting of some sort where only a few “key people” were attending. Di pala. Since I couldn’t just excuse myself, I just sat through it and made the quickest exit as soon as “Thank You and Goodnight!” was said.

Oo, dyan din sa Octagon building ginawa. Speaker si Joel Trinidad (anak ni Noel).
