Free Sightseeing Tours in Singapore

November 1st, 2008 by Sexy Mom · Viewed 1432 times · 7 Comments

I have been to Singapore countless times the past 15 years, while in transit from my foreign travels in line with my development work, such that I have seen most of what it had to offer to a traveler. It has then become in the later years a place for rest, rejuvenation, and sleep prior to the next assignment or prior to going home. Sometimes I would just sleep most of the 24 hours, in between, enjoying the hotel’s recreation and health facilities.

I have discovered a lot of activities in Singapore. One of them is a free sightseeing tour for those who have time to spare prior to the next flight. Those who have at least 5 hours to spare before their connecting flight, can register for a free 2-hour sightseeing tour of Singapore for a choice between a Colonial Tour and Cultural Tour. The tours are conducted in English.

A River Cruise which costs S$40 is normally part of the tour. Here are some snapshots taken from my last Singapore visit.

Clarke Quay

Standing tall at 8.6 metres high and weighs as heavy as 70 tonnes, it was designed since 1964. It is originally located at the mouth of the Singapore River. It then settled into its new home here at Merlion Park, overlooking scenic Marina Bay.

Replica of Sir Stamford Raffles, Singapore’s founder, made of pure white polymarble, stands at North Boat Quay, an area commonly known as the Raffles Landing Site.
