When making a decision of minor importance, I have always found it advantageous to consider all the pros and cons. In vital matters, however, such as the choice of a mate or a profession, the decision should come from the unconscious, from somewhere within ourselves. In the important decisions of personal life, we should be governed, I think, by the deep inner needs of our nature.—Sigmund Freud
There comes a moment in one’s life when one has to make a major decision—such is life. For me, my formula is simple:
- know if the circumstance truly warrants a major decision
- ask myself what I really want
- make a mental note of the advantages and disadvantages of my options (or write them down)
- weigh my options and identify the risks
- ask myself if it is for the good of many and will have positive effects
- discuss it with the major players, if necessary
- pray
- follow my heart
- own up to my decision
In my current status in life, my decision is not mine alone anymore—when I make a decision, I am the last to benefit from my decision as I already have a family who I am responsible for. This is being unselfish. Mothers are called beacons of the home (remember—ilaw ng tahanan?) or pillars of the home.
I am now in a crossroad—soon I will have to make a major decision. It is not taking me long to take this decision. In fact I already know what I want and I have weighed my options and risks. It will not significantly change my life and that of my loved ones, but certainly, it will make life easier for me.
Guided by prayer and the grace of the Good Lord, I know I will never go wrong with my decision.
How about you—what influences your decisions?

Happy new year Dine!
I tend to go just about the same way you go. I have this feeling in my gut, and it almost always infallible on personal matters. I listen to it.
On the other hand, my gut never work in my chemistry labs. I guess pros and cons and numbers and datas is the way to go for other kinds of decission.
What kind of decission looms in your future?

what influences my decisions? if it’s something personal, i use both my head and heart; if there are other people or family involved, discuss it with them and come up with a suitable resolution, for a win-win solution.
