November has been a month of global influence—Obama winning the US elections, the terror attacks in Mumbai, the civil unrest in Bangkok, Thanksgiving Day, and the showing of the much waited movie, Twilight. Locally—Jocjoc Bolante’s big joke in the Senate, the tale of the Euro generals, Manny Villar’s ouster as Senate President and many more have taken the limelight.
On the personal side, November saw daughter, Monica’s 25th birthday and her first day of confinement in the Medical City General Hospital.
The 30th of November is also the first Sunday of Advent—preparing for the celebration of the birthday of Jesus or Christmas Day.
Good-bye November.
Christmas is in the air. December breeze is fast catching up. Late nights and early mornings are chilly, though the days are still somehow hot.
December has always been associated with Christmas, and in the material world, Christmas day has been associated with merrymaking, gift giving, and partying. Christmas is also for children. The days ahead are not as easy and Christmas may not be as lavish as in the past years. But still we can look at the coming days in a positive light. One of my daughters asked how might Christmas look like this year. The young ones are now more aware of what is happening around them—it seems like they openly discuss these developments among themselves.
We may not have all the material comforts in life, but let us be comforted with the fact that we are alive and safe, we have our jobs, and we have our family and friends surrounding us. We can take time out to share our blessings with those who have less in life, not necessarily material wealth, but our time and efforts, say CRIBS for example, or visiting those who are in prison, supporting advocasies like those involved with street children, abused women, the elderly, the homeless, and many more. After all, reaching out is satisfying, and so is giving back.
Hello December.

True, children these days are more knowledgeable with the things happening around us.
Christmas is not just about gifts, parties, decorations and having fun, those are what we tell the children. Its a time of sharing and a time to think about how Jesus came to be human in order to save us.
I wish you a great week
