Friday the 13th

Another Friday the 13th…and I have always dreaded the day. I am glad that this year, there is only one Friday the 13th, and that is today, 13 June. Ugh! In 2009 there are three: February, March and November.

I may not be superstitious, but there have been a number of events in my life associated with the number 13 and yes, with Friday the 13th. Some are too private to share, while some are too painful to remember. Are they just coincidence? I don’t think so, because I do not believe in coincidence. For me, whatever is bound to happen will happen, and whatever is not meant to happen, no matter how hard one tries, will not happen.

I do not recall a Friday the 13th that has ever brought joy to me, except that still, they have been another passing day—when I woke up to a new day and finished off the day still alive.

How do I then deal with Fridays the 13th? Acceptance—and no other, no matter how difficult, no matter how painful, because life has to go on and on and on.

Now for trivia.

Btw—thanks to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for brightening up my day, with a box of their Sports Lover’s Doughnuts: Caramel Filled Basketball, Custard Filled Football, Strawberry Filled Baseball & Lemon Filled Tennis Ball.

Meant as a treat for dads on Father’s Day, they could not anymore wait to be devoured, as hubby will be arriving from Cebu only tomorrow.

Who could resist these mouth-watering sugar-laced delights?

Maam, I do love this post since it has a mild philosophical tone in it.

i am so glad na nakabasa ako ng another POV when it comes to coincidence. i equate it with destiny/fate, and though we share the same belief (if it is not bound to happen, it won’t), yung end result po natin is different.

i do hope na you’ll be fine po today. personally, i haven’t experienced bad fate sa kahit na anong friday the 13th. i’m not fond po of tracking dates and so, magugulat na lang ako, “ay, friday the 13th pala kahapon?” hahaha! well, siguro, meron pong mga hardships na pumatak sa friday the 13th, pero marami din naman sa other dates, so i just shrug it off. haha!

    ingat po kayo maam. :)

Wow! If it weren’t for Ms. Dine, I won’t know that its Friday the 13th. I googled the day and found may trivias about the day. I wonder lang kung may connection ang frequency ng friday the 13th sa isang taon sa annual global economic performance. if that’s the case, I’d hate to think about the oil price in 2009…

I only realized that it was Friday the 13th today because of this post. My day has been pretty much normal so I guess all the hype about this day is not all true. Sabi nga nila, “Malas ang maniwala sa mga pamahiin.” :D

Darn, a friend of mine was going to a medical checkup today, Friday the 13th and he chickened out hehe :)

Funny though because I don’t think the Chinese believe in the number 13 as bad luck. Theirs is nos 4 and 5 I think so here if your house number has a 4 or 5, Chinese folks won’t bid for it guaranteed but if your house has 8 or say 88 or 888 – man it’ll go in a few days :)

of all i know and have realized, the life we live is designed and bounded by complex equation.. perfectly calculated. it’s just that we got choices and power to make our destiny :)

The doughnuts are mouth-watering indeed. Coincidences; depends on what the issue is about and can you put if off as a coincidence or not.

    Happy Weekend Tita!

I didn’t realize that it was Friday the 13th yesterday. I went through the day without even knowing what date it was. So, I guess, the day has no meaning for me…just another Friday.

I’m grateful that Friday the 13th doesn’t bring any ill fate to my loved ones.

Last Friday the 13th was my MIL’s flight going to the States (for vacation). She was a little apprehensive that her flight had to fall on such a date but glad she got to her destination safely.

Last Friday the 13th came and went to unwitting me. It is just as well. Otherwise, I might have felt some jitters somehow as I usually do. Lemme see .. was there something untoward that happened? Nothing. IT was my work day, one of the two days in my work week. It was a productive day. I’d say it was a lucky day as I was able to meet the printer who had been trying to elude me for weeks. And we were able to reach fine decisions about the book which i am scrounging around to finish. And you kow what—he offered to publish a compilation of my blogs. And to co-author with me his own philosophies of living and doing business. No, Friday the 13th wasn’t unlucky.

Oooh those donuts look great! Wala bang golf ball? Perfect for my Dad sana! :D

I’m not super superstitious, but I did chip a tooth last Fri. Arrrgh. Now that was really unlucky for me. Of all the days diba? But anyway on that Friday, one of my close friends got married. Her wedding and reception was wonderful, and it was great to reconnect with friends again. So I guess Friday the 13th wasn’t so bad after all. I got to have my tooth fixed the next day anyway. :)

Friday the 13th? It’s all in the mind!
