Here’s sharing with you a Christmas message–A Perfect Christmas, from Kuya G, chaplain of a large medical center. He calls himself a secret fan of The D Spot (I am humbled).
.
.
I arrived in the Philippines 18 years ago and soon was greeted by Jose Mary Chan (JMC)’s “A Perfect Christmas” on the Philippine air waves. It has been my theme song since then. Of course one can argue that there is no perfect Christmas, especially now that there are more bad news about global recession and what impacts they may have upon us in the coming year. The world was in a similar mood of gloom and doom when a baby was born in a manger about 2,000 years ago–almost no one cared except a few shepherds and curious foreigners.“Simple pleasures are made special, too, when they’re shared with you..” JMC croons on the radio, telling us about his idea of a perfect Christmas.
“Looking through some old photographs, watching busy shopper’s rushing about, sparkling lights all over town, children’s carols in the air…” You can make your own list.
How about embracing a child today? Looking at his or her eyes and find again in our hearts the awe and wonder for life, reminding us that God wants to dwell with us, embracing our humanity, and giving us courage and hope?
I wish you all no less than a perfect Christmas. The Philippines has taught me that there are so much to be grateful for, to cherish and to share. If only we can trust and smile again at a stranger, we will surprise ourselves with our new found generosity. The night is long so we can have more time to see the stars. A child is born so that we can believe again that God has chosen us to be His perfect abode. There are still so much sufferings around us, so let God help us once more to discover the power within us to heal and to make whole.
Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Kuya G!
I
My idea of a perfect Christmas
Is to spend it with you
In a party
Or dinner for two
Anywhere would do
Celebrating the yuletide season
Always lights up our lives
Simple pleasures are made special too
When their shared with you
II
Looking through some old photographs
Faces of friends we’ll always remember
Watching busy shoppers rushing about
In the cool breeze of December
Sparkling lights, all over town
Children’s carols in the air
By the Christmas tree
A shower of stardust on your hair
chorus
I cant think of a better Christmas
Than my wish coming true
And my wish is you’d let me spend my whole life with you
repeat II
chorus
My idea of a perfect Christmas is to spend it with you

This song never fails to cheer us up during the season because it reminds us that to pause reflect the true meaning of the season.
Simple pleasures should be daily occurrences for these are what matters most at the end of the day.
