Today, 1 October, is the feast day of St. Therese of Liseux (also known as Teresa of the Infant Jesus, Therese of the Child Jesus, the Little Flower, and the Little Flower of Jesus).
I felt it apt to share with you or a poem or prayer, which has been attributed to “St. Teresa”.
It has been taking the rounds of emails, even in the form of chain letters and novenas, all year round, for the past few years.
.
May today there be peace within.
May you trust your highest power
that you are exactly where you are meant to be
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you
May you be content knowing you are a child of God
Let this presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and every one of you.
.
Kinda confused, I wanted to know which of the 3 St. Teresas really wrote it–St. Teresa of Avila, St. Therese of Lisieux, or Mother Teresa. Each email that I received would almost always have it attriubuted to St. Therese of Liseux (the Little Flower of Jesus), but once in a while would say Mother Teresa or just plain St. Therese (could be of Liseux or Avila?).
I checked Google–I was surprised to find out that the poem was attributed to the three Teresas, as it has, too, gone through the rounds of blogs and other websites. I checked on the websites of authority of the three Teresas, but none of them pointed to this poem (sorry to disappoint you). Could it be that not one of them wrote it? Or could it be that one of the nuns in either of their congregations wrote it, but when it was spread around, only the Name “Teresa” was left out of it? Possible, but if anyone of you could tell me, I would appreciate.
Nevertheless it is a beautiful poem worth sharing.

Oh, I don’t know the answer either. But thanks for reminding me that it’s the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux. It’s also the death anniversary of my best friend who also died at the young age of 23. So this day is very special for me.

I do not know either. They St. Teresa of Avila,St Therese of Lisieux) are both considered Doctors of the Church, good writers and I guess both are Carmelites.
Mother Theresa and St Therese of Lisieux on the other hand are considered as Spiritual Sisters.
Interesting questions indeed.

Our condolences on your loss. Our prayers are with you, J. Angelo and your whole family.
I think Joseph is with St. Teresa now and is also Jesus’s little flower.

Please be reminded that St. Teresa of Avila was Spanish while St Therese of Lisieux was French. One of my best friends in Lourdes College High School (class ’73) was named after her and we fondly called her “Tetet” instead of “Therese”.
