Another vignette written in a Creative Writing Class with Barbara (Tweetums) Gonzalez.
Trumpet of doom
Don’t chase me now with your reverberating tune
I run away
I can’t bear to listen
I can’t bear to look back
Not my fault, I tell you
There are billions of people out there
collectively
ravaging forests
polluting rivers
dirtying the air
With no regard at all for Mother Earth
Trumpet of Doom
Don’t chase me now with your reverberating tune
I tremble
I cower in fear
But on second thoughts
Rather than slowly suffering
Shuddering
Blood oozing from my eyes, ears, nose
At the point of no return
When Mother Earth decides to avenge its wrath
When it is time
I will beg you
Trumpet of Doom
Chase me with your reverberating tune
And eat me alive, fast!

Ah, a nice one!
(:
Trumpets of doom
Sounds like something from a game
But what you have written
It’s really nice
i like it when you use “trumpets of doom.” it entices to read from top down.
very creative dine!
Mankind is reallly hastening its doom, isn’t it .. by the relentless despoilation of earth’s resources. Blow, your brave trumpet, Dine. It resonates. Good one … this one is my fave by far.
thanks, Kyels, zeroimpact, Belle and anna. “trumpets of doom” sounds really doomful, but I guess there’s truth to it. if we allow our environment to be destroyed, we (and our children’s children and those after) will be doomed.
