I couldn’t help but share an excellent food chart that a friend passed on to me (thanks, Viv!). The name of the person who compiled the list was not written, though.

I was delighted to find out that beets, cabbage, carrots, chestnuts, olive oil, and peanuts, which we have in abundance promote weight loss. And I thought only green tea would help (see related post). Find out more below.

*ONIONS: Reduce risk of heart attack, Combat cancer, Kill bacteria, Lower cholesterol, Fight fungus

*ORANGES; Support immune systems, Combat cancer, Protect your heart, Straighten respiration

*PEANUTS: Protect against heart disease, Promote weight loss, Combat prostate cancer, Lower cholesterol, aggravates diverticulitis

    Hello Dine,

What an interesting blog you have. Nakakatakot, actually. Panay health issues kasi. =)

Great list! My breakfast everyday consists of oatmeal. I also try to have fruits as my snack instead of chips or a sandwich.

    More power, Dine

I can really use shedding off 30 lbs. I don’t know but I find it virtually impossible to lose weight here in Manila :(

But green tea I’ve gone back to drinking regularly once again.

thanks for a visit and comments on the Janice Del Rosario case. She will be soon the legal problem of the Philippines, since her deportation is going on, lest she files another of her delay dally tactics, using the kids as a “humanitarian” case.

Anyways, I think Garlic in any form is one good food for LDL control too. It may be offensive to some.

I lost 30 lbs by drinking green tea, cutting out ice cream and all sweets, eating more fruit and a salad for lunch every day, yoga, walking at least 1/2 mile every day. The pounds shed off quickly. It works. I went from a tight 12 to a loose 10.

    We are what we eat.

What is the source for the food benefits chart? I need to know to pass on to my friends.

  21. Francesca on January 28th, 2007 4:31 pm

I agree with oranges that promotes our immune system, i am drinking it at the moment due to severe cold.
    But. (hehe)may But ako.

Yung peanuts, does not lower cholesterol, daw?
Kasi here in France, they do not use that much because of high cholesterol content. I once bought a bottle as bread spread, ang sigaw ni Frenchman, kala mo nakakita ng multo! even sa kare kare ko, ayaw niya gamit ko, kasi daw kataas ng cholesterol non!
dont know, so far di ko na lang touch yung peanut butter…

  22. Sexy Mom on January 28th, 2007 11:01 pm

thanks, katiann – that’s a feat! as to the source of the chart, i asked and asked, but could not really find the source. it was passed on by a friend, who passed on…

francesca – i hope you are well now. as to peanuts and other nuts, i take them in moderation.

what a list! ...very informative talaga! Kaso I have a comment, kasi sabi d2 sa lugar namin, avocados can raise cholesterol levels and may even cause toxemia or preeclampsia to moms-to-be like me… Me and my husband really love eating avocados pa naman (frozen with milk)...

I am glad that you came up with this list…now I have something to prove our “critics” wrong… Hehehehehhe
