Hello GLOBE–Lines went dead! Schedules gone kaput! AGAIN!!

Now, 18 January 2008, Friday, there are 3 messages in my Outbox, unsent. And I keep receiving the message, “Message sending failed. Check details.” But I do receive in-coming text messages.

Have Globe lines gone dead again? I wonder.

As of 9:20 pm, 15 January 2008: IT SEEMS THAT GLOBE SIGNALS ARE DEAD FROM PARTS OF QUEZON CITY TO BULACAN. AND DID I HEAR CEBU?

Here’s the news from GMA: Globe Telecom signal disrupted across RP Thanks, Noemi, for sharing the link.

I was surprised why hubby, who was in Bicol, was calling me in the landline at 4:30 pm today. He said he could not contact me through my Globe cellphone, and that he has tried everyone’s number but could not reach any of us. By the way, he is the only Smart user in the family. All 9 of us (Angelo and Caren included) are Globe subscribers.

Then BA’s text message came while I was in church, which I read at 6:30 pm. He had a message asking to prepare his bath as he was off to a party. Strange, I thought, when at 5 pm he was already dressing up for that party.

I was waiting and waiting for Angelo to bring his kids to our house, following up by text, but they didn’t come—found out later they were in another house.

I got a call in the landline from Monica in Rockwell, saying she could not get through any of our cellphones. And I didn’t get any text message from the kids who were supposed to be picked up from school.

Then I got an email from a friend saying that only the last part of my text message sent at 12 noon was showing. I also found some text messages still in the outbox of my cell phone. Why was it, I thought, that the landline was busier than ever?

Only then did it dawn on me that Globe lines have been acting up since perhaps noon, and finally went dead hours after that.

Years ago, we didn’t have cellphones, but we survived. Now, when cellphones go dead, we sort of panic. The peaceful existence is disturbed. Schedules go kaput!

Yes, cellphones, and all other gadgetry are modern conveniences that have become parts of our lives, but when programs malfunction, when signals die, when computers are affected by virus, when DSL slows down, or we could not connect to the internet, we are GREATLY affected.

And no matter how much GLOBE or SMART or SUN increase their rates, decrease coverage of their services (no more free texts, promos like unlimited texting—down from P80/5 days to P20/day or the daytime unlimited texting), we, rather our children, still fall for these traps.

Tell me, are these modern conveniences a bane or a boon?

And tell me, GLOBE, why oh why? When you have billions of pesos in earnings, where is your back up? What are your contingency measures to lessen the impact to your so called ever faithful subscribers—the unwilling victims?

    I guess this explains everything.

We in Cavite had the same problems last Saturday, sending text messages was impossible because for some unknown reasons, Globe wouldn’t just send our messages. We had full signal strengths but still the messages failed to be sent.

First, it’s their crappy broadband services, now their mobile services are being screwed up too? What’s wrong with Globe nowadays…

Haha! I so agree. When our internet goes haywire, andaming aspects ng buhay ko ang affected. Although not in a life-and-death kind of way, still, hassle talaga. Minsan, nakakasira ng araw, haha!

So that’s why. There was this instance, the whole day, I couldn’t get a single bar of signal! Musta naman yun.

I actually panicked as well, until I realized that I don’t actually have friends.

oh. kaya pala i got a text mesage from a friend telling me na “mahirap magsend” and “matagal makareceive ng text”. In my part kasi hindi since I am in the Manila area that time.
I experinced that before. I called globe and told them that if ever they will have maintenance or mechanical repairs to be performed sa system nila, they should notify their subscriber in advance.

My cousin who is a globe user told me that despite the problem, she and her friends were able to meet without texting each other. I guess we can still survive even without cellphones hehe sure, it will be pretty hard and inconvenient but yeah we can still do it =)

    Happy New Year Sexymom!

It’s both bane and boon altogether. I can’t live without my cellphone honestly because I get text messages everyday and somehow it’s vital. I think I’m addicted to my cellphone. Gee!

I hope the lines will be fixed soon though.

    :)
