Sexy Mom - Vindicated!

February 13th, 2007 by Sexy Mom · Viewed 8178 times · 14 Comments

The best seller among my posts, with 2,700 hits so far is Sexy Mom – Bared! written in jest in response to Annamanila’s tag for a meme. Sometimes when I talk about my folly with friends or kin, baring from the most shocking secrets, to the most shameful, puzzling, miserable and vain, I would like to disappear from the face of the earth. Why, oh, why have I bared those secrets? What has happened to the image that I had to protect. Not that I have an immaculate image to protect, wholesome mom, at least.

This morning, an article from the Philippine Star caught my attention. It says that Pinoys are Asia’s top chocoholics.

That Filipinos are amorous and have one of the highest birth rates in the world is no surprise—they best all Asians in the consumption of Hershey’s chocolates, bar none, according to Hershey’s Philippines president and regional manager.

And chocolates, research shows, put you in the mood for love.

Santiago told The Star on the eve of Valentine’s day that Filipinos consume 75 million pieces of chocolate Kisses, yearly, making them the most “Kisses-able country” in Asia.

Research shows that serotonin and other substances found in chocolate, notably phenethylamine, can act as mild sexual stimulants.

Willie Ong, a cardiologist at the Makati Medical Center agrees that chocolates, particularly dark chocolates, are good for the heart. And when the heart feels good, it can love a lot more.

“But I wouldn’t advise chocolates for diabetics and those who are obsese,” Ong adds.

According to Wikepedia, recent studies suggest that cocoa or dark chocolate may possess certain beneficial effects on human health. Dark chocolate, with its high cocoa content, is a rich source of the flavonoids epicatechin and gallic acid, which are thought to possess cardioprotective properties. Some also have observed a modest reduction in blood pressure after consuming approximately 100g of dark chocolate daily.

Recent events also show that Filipinos love Kisses and kissing. Filipinos recently kissed en masse to set a new world record—1,624 couples—for the Guinness Book of World Records of simultaneous kisses.

“The Philippines is a chocolate-eating country, and Hershey’s s the most popular real chocolate brand among Filipinos,” added Erick Ampil, Hershey’s group product general manager, during the celebration yesterday of the centennial of Hershey’s Kisses, the universal comfort food, at the Mandarin Oriental in Makati City.

Since the first Kiss rolled off the Hershey factory in Hershey Pennsylvania in 1907, 291 million pounds havebeen consumed worldwide. This according to Hershey’s Patricia Turquato, is equal to the weight of 29,000 adult elephants.

Well, that explains my penchant and addiction for chocolates, including that most shameful secret of “pocketing” the Lindt chocolates from the Singapore Airlines Execute Lounge. I am not alone, I am a Pinay. Sexy Mom is vindicated.

But I am not sure if this explains my “7 Blessings” in the form of 4 sons and 3 daughters. While writing this post, I am munching chocolates, and coincindence of all coincindences—they’re Hershey’s chocolates! We bought about $100 worth of chocolates at the Duty Free Shop in Clark Airfield (now known as Airforce City) last Sunday, the last day of the Hot Air Balloon Festival.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all!

in my recent post, if you’ll click the link that says “my favorite meal” what do you see? Though mine is a Hershey drink, Hershe’ys pa rin daba. I guess we have the same common denominator there (*winks!*)

$100 yun?! Eh bakit halos dalawang araw lang ang itinagal nila sa ref?

  • Sexy Mom // Feb 14, 2007 at 1:01 am

BA! how many are you? 7! plus your and your siblings’ special someones, plus your classmates. not even enough! and monica even wanted more. nothing ever lasts for a long time in the ref. that is why we do not even own a microwave oven – no spoilage, everything is gone in seconds – parang binagyo!

  • ba // Feb 14, 2007 at 1:03 am

Just came from the ref. I saw a very very very comforting sight. 4 bars of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate! And then I opened my backpack, may isa pa! Yahoo! So that makes 5… Errr… 4 pala, kasi kinakain ko yung isa ngayon. Wahahaha
