My Nokia 6300 (and 3 boxes of Krispy Kreme Donuts)

I could not help it any longer, I could not anymore delay. My life has so much been affected with the inefficiency of using 2 telephones, both very old. The one that I use as my personal phone—I have accidentally dropped it many times, twice in a pail of water, and for a while I thought I or the person at the other end of the line was having hearing problems. And it looked so dirty, I felt miserable when in the company of other people—they would think that its state would reflect my personality. The other phone an antique one, borrowed from my househelper, seems to weigh 1 ton! I use it for my writing and research projects—it has one feature that I wanted, suiting the requirements of my work.

So, last Wednesday, I went to the Cyberzone in Mega Mall to buy this. It is the Nokia 6300, elegantly slim, 2” screen, a 2 megapixel camera, MP3 player, FM radio, and a video player recorder. It has bluetooth connectivity, too.

It may not be the latest model, and it may not be perfect—I have read reviews about its far from perfect camera features (picture in the left was the first ever picture taken with the camera phone) and its short battery life, but its basic functions fully suit my requirement for texting and making phone calls. And its sexy elegant look is a match to Sexy Mac. It has been more than 24 hours now since I started using it, and I (and my 10 yo sold) have already discovered a lot of it functions, I am more comfortable now i using it, and I could not believe it when I found out that it has a Su-do-ku game in it!

With the way Sexy Mac and Sexy Phone complement me and my work, I would not anymore worry being stressed out. So much stress sometimes causes hair to fall, such that a hair transplant is warranted. Because if worse comes to worst, I would have to take an urgent trip for a New York hair transplant.

Thanks to Krispy Kreme, when I reached home, I was pleasantly surprised to find 3 boxes of 6 KK donuts awaiting me. And so, while me and my kids were admiring and examining my N6300, we had a sweet feast of donuts. Blooey, KK’s PR sent the donuts, with an announcement, “Krispy Kreme, America’s most loved doughnut opens in Greenhills! On Thursday, June 28, the third Krispy Kreme store opens at the Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan.” Let me share, what was in the announcement:

And why should you line up before the doors open on June 28 at 9:00 AM?

1. Witness the opening of the first drive-thru outlet in Asia and its first free-standing store in the Philippines.
2. The first customer to ring the cash register for dine-in and drive-thru will each win a FREE ONE YEAR SUPPLY of Original Glazed doughnuts, one dozen per week.
3. For drive thru: SIX MONTHS supply of Original Glazed doughnut for second customer and THREE MONTHS supply of Original Glazed doughnut for third customer, one dozen per week.
4. FREE NOVELTY ITEM for the first 300 customers!
5. SURPRISE CELEBRITY GUESTS will man the dirve-thru on opening day!
6. Standy by for the Krispy Kreme Opening Day Car Stick-on ! Customers who drive-thru with the special sticker on their windshield are entitled to a free Signature Coffee on a dozen doughnut purchase.

Oh my God … Tita, there are Krispy Kreme(s) over there?!

I miss those glazed donuts (my pal flew it back from UK) and there aren’t any KK shops here in Malaysia!

    ):

SexyMom: Kyels, maybe in time, KK will come to Malaysia. It took some time before they came to Manila.

Hi Dine. You and my husband have the same cellphone model. He likes it because it’s sleek and compact. He likes its chrome exterior too.

I love KK glazed donuts. Wow, a drive-thru KK outlet. Sayang ang layo naman sa amin. Hopefully, they open one in alabang ‘coz I buy my glazed KK at Serendra pa.

  8. Belle on June 24th, 2007 1:14 pm

  9. Mari on June 24th, 2007 3:49 pm

Wow, great phone. You have everything in it except the kitchen sink. LOL Take it easy on the donuts, they travel fast on the hips and other parts of the anatomy and they stay put. LOL

  11. kathy on June 24th, 2007 7:38 pm

What a cool phone! Don’t you just love upgrades? :)

  12. Gina on June 24th, 2007 7:53 pm

We used to go on a 40 minute or so drive just to enjoy Krispy Kreme. The doughnuts are freshly made right in the store and you could see those delightful goodies go through the different “phases” – from the dough mixing & shaping,to the baking, glazing, etc. And we liked our free doughnut as soon as we entered the shop. Too bad the 2 KK store/coffee shop closed shop last year =(. We miss them.

That’s a cool looking compact phone. Ang dami pang features. And it takes clear picture ha.
Well, you enjoy it Dine =)!

SexyMom: you mean KK didn’t click in your place in canada? too bad the shops closed. and yes, KK are sinfully delicious—each bite i guess adds a bulge here and there (LOL).

    Wow! Ganda phone.

Before, I must admit, phone conscious ako. I wanted the latest models… Now, after an N70 phone (which lasted for about 5 months only), i downgraded to an N6131. It may not be the most updated phone but I AM HAPPY having it.

  21. vk on June 26th, 2007 1:01 am

Wow high tech ka na Tita ! Congratulations and I miss eating donuts (especially dunkin donuts)! Meron po dito pero di ko type ! Just a bit of advice po, extra careful po Tita (sa mga snatchers) especially when you go malling maganda kasi sya eh ! My sister had a very bad experience kasi !

  23. chateau on June 26th, 2007 8:21 am

Nice and sleek SexyPhone! Wow, nakakatakam naman ang KK… It would be great with the coffee I’m sipping now… But oh the carbs… tsk tsk.. I’m trying to stay away from KK. So far i’ve succeeded kasi malayo ang Serendra. But now, it’s slowly inching its way to our direction, Sexy Mom! LOL

  24. rhodora on June 26th, 2007 11:46 am

Wow! very sleek phone! Now, why didn’t I think of this model before bugging hubby to get me this ‘slow put’ N73! Believe me, nagsisisi ako! This phone hangs, and very slow! :(

  25. jhay on June 26th, 2007 11:50 am

So that’s your new phone, lovely and elegant indeed. Though I’m not familiar with Nokia phones anymore, I’m quite envious it has a su-do-ku game in it.

Then again, it could be a real productivity killer for me if my SE K800i had it.

Still, congrats on the new phone mam! :D

  26. Flori on June 26th, 2007 2:05 pm

Congratulations on the new phone :D
You’re always bringing sexy back, sexymom.

And yeah, KK’s are the devil. But I love them nonetheless :P

  27. annamanila on June 26th, 2007 2:26 pm

You must be feeling great with the new late-model phone complementing the upscalelaptop. And it must also feel good to B2P!

Bravo my friend to the 2nd power. Abaw, di man lang ako nakatikim ng KK. haha

  28. Skye on June 26th, 2007 9:49 pm

They should have made the grand opening on a week end. That way, more people can join.

Nice phone! My mom’s still using her beat up old Nokia.. umm.. I can’t even remember the model. She has yet to discover the wonders of a camera phone.. not that she really cares. I bet she’d rather enjoy cooking that texting. lol

  29. MrsPartyGirl on June 27th, 2007 3:43 am

one year’s supply of KK? that’s a recipe for diabetes right there, hehe.

congrats on the phone! it’s so sleek and pretty. and i didn’t realize na that pic you took was taken with your cellphone until you said it was. ang ganda, parang taken with a real digicam. my phone’s cam has less than 1 megapixel (.2 lang yata!) so you can just imagine how pangit the pics i take are, eww! :)

  30. sugahmamma on June 27th, 2007 11:04 am

How much does it cost there? A dozen here in the US costs $6 plus. I always buy Tim Horton’s doughnuts though which is just across my apartment complex (and cheaper by a dollar!). Krispy Kreme is delicioso but I’m too lazy to drive 3 miles from where I live (plus the gas hike!).

  31. dimaks on June 29th, 2007 3:07 am

waaa.. so the Nokia N73 was dumped? hehe.. gratz on the new gadget tita dine!

one thing with these wide screen phones, its hard to type with their tiny keypads

  32. Vilma on October 20th, 2007 10:49 am

dine, nice cel…when i saw that model in a newspaper ad, i immediately told myself i like that. now, i’m using 6600 which is so bulky that’s why i like a much more slim-type one like 6300 like yours…what are its other color? and may i know how much 6300 cellphone costs now? tnx!
