Connecting Names (rather blogs) with Faces at Pinoy Moms Network

At the last minute, I realized that it was Pauline’s birthday, though weeks earlier I confirmed that I was free for MOMmy Lunch with the Pinoy Moms Network. I am glad Pau didn’t mind—Mom had to find some time with friends, too. It was the first time for most of us to get together and meet each other face-to-face, since PMN first went live in the blogosphere on 5 February 2007. Just 3-1/2 months after, PMN already has 432 posts written by about 70 Pinoy MOMs from all over the world. That’s an averge of 4 posts/day. PMN was co-founded by Connie Veneracion and Noemi Dado.
PMN still continues to accept MOMs as members. The only three criteria: a mother, a Filipino, and an active blogger. And what does PMN offer? “More exposure for your blog and a chance to meet and interact with Filipino MOMs outside your own circle of blogger-friends”.
And this was exactly what yesterday, 26 May, with 12 MOMs coming together (many meeting each other for the first time) at Swiss Deli & Bistro corner Pioneer and Sheridan Streets, Mandaluyong.

Below (L to right): Jane and Salen
Standing: Rachel , Lynn, Noemi, Connie, me, Feng, Cess, Julie, and Lisaflor
Standing behind the group: Chato
It was not difficult connecting the names, rather the blogs, with the faces. Each time a newcomer MOM enters the room, one or the other would already say the name of the MOM or of the blog, and the name of the child tagging along. No one minded being called by the blog name, like, Sassy Lawyer, Sexy Mom, Teacher Julie, iMom, Sassy Mom, Heart of Rachel, and Lady Cess. Feng didn’t mind being called Nico’s mom, Rachel as Yohan’s mom, Jane of the yoga fame, Lisaflor as the REAL Me, and Noemi as just Noemi. Sons and daughters tagged along—what are MOMs for if not for them.
Food was great, coffee was on the house, and wi-fi was available. SexyMac sat next to Noemi’s Mac.
Each MOM had a story to tell, and photos to share. It’s amazing how 12 MOMS got together, had fun together, and planned but WROTE DIFFERENTLY—each has her own version, own style. Never a dull moment at PMN, never a dull moment in the blogosphere.

This is just great! Hope to be able to join the next PMN lunch if I’m ever in Manila.
SexyMom: you’re most welcome, Linnor, the EBs will be announced through the PMN site, or maybe even by email (Jane has started organizing a directory).

Hi dine,
Wow, this is very nice…...but how can we make it or attend your regular meetings?
It is nice together with some mama, changing of ideas and experience about family life….
Really, I like this too, Can I participate or as one member of this club or organization?.....
Thanks in advance…......

Hi Dine. It was a marvelous lunch and I’m so glad I had the honor of meeting you and the rest of the mommy bloggers. It was my first EB and I’m glad that it was a delightful experience.
Thanks Dine for sharing your valuable time with us even though it coincided with Pauline’s birthday. Looking forward to our next get together. Take care!
SexyMom: we all had fun, thanks to you all, now looking forward to the next EB.
Thanks for sharing your time with us even if it’s Pau’s special day too. Time was kind of short for the meet-up, maybe next time, we’ll make it longer. Nice seeing you there.
SexyMom: twas nice meeting you, too, Lynn, till next EB.
here are the moms, i miss my mom again. I just met her for a week then balik uli rito sa maynila
SexyMom: am sure you look forward to the next visit before you go to for further studies.
Wow, this is a good idea to gather everyone together.

I’m glad you had fun Tita!
SexyMom: thanks, Kyels!
Kainggit kayo! Sana noon pa natuklasan ko na ang PMN.
SexyMom: you missed only a few months, Mitch. Next time, we’ll see you there.
This is interesting. I been observing how I’m stumbling into more and more mommy blogs. A lot of you seem to be proficient writers, I think it’s by virtue of age and consequently experience.
SexyMom: thanks, Ann! you’re quite right about age and experience.
more stories from moms like you means more inspiration….
nice!
SexyMom: thanks, Jamie.
Tita D hindi ako naka attend
monthly period po kasi..medyo may problem ako pag ganyang panahon :(..la naman akong alam na contact number para masabing di ako makakarating
Awww.. I missed the fun! Anyway, Dine, I’m sure there are still more to come! And hopefully, AnnaManila will be there too, para kumpleto!
SexyMom: we missed you! hope next time you will be able to come, Pangasinan is not very far
Hi Sexy Mom! It was great to finally meet you – truly sexy ka nga hehe. I would have loved to talk to you more. Maybe next time I’ll sit beside you.
Thanks for coming even if it meant time taken from Pauline.
SexyMom: thanks for the nice words, it’s just a matter of hiding the bulges in the right places (LOL). twas nice meeting the charming Chats.
It is nice you are so many.
Maybe I should organize the same for dads!
SexyMom: that’s a good idea, Sydney. we are yet to see a strong network of dads, and we are certainly interested to read what is in the minds of Pinoy dads. count in my son, JAngelo of The J Spot.
Pwede ba ako sali? galeng naman, kadami nyo na!
o siya ituloy ang ligaya. Happy mommy blogging.
Walang kokontrang asawa dyan…
SexyMom: PMN will welcome you with a warm heart and open arms, Amy! I have posted the invite separately.
woohoo, sexy talaga with the mini skirt and all. am glad you all had a wonderful time. next time sali ako, well someday…hehe.
SexyMom: hey! who told you about the mini skirt? (oh, i remember—the pictures!), next time, join us!
If we could organize a Father version and a kids version, that would be swell. Nice to see you again, Dine
SexyMom: that’s a great idea! calling Connie and Noemi…
I know five of the 12 mom-bloggers who lunched! Good batting average, i should say.
It seems there is one official photo of the lunch that all of you used!!
You had a blast. Good for all of you. And may PMN continue to thrive and prosper!
SexyMom: you should be there in PMN’s next lunch, all our friends will be waiting to see you.
