We’re a Dynasty (a blogging dynasty, that is)

I was tickled pink when I read J Angelo’s post this morning over at The J Spot (son of The D Spot).
Benj says over at the Philippine Blog Awards blog that the Racomas are a blogging dynasty.
Benj: Family blog? That’s like Racoma vs Deen! hehe. I wonder who comes out on top…The-Jester-in-exile: you forgot the dados, benj.
Benj: oh of course! haha. Dynasties
lololol :p
Yes, people. In the Philippines, not only are the political dynasties dominant. There are also blogging dynasties—families of incessant bloggers who aim to rule the blogging world.I wonder if we’ll win. I’m not sure what family blog means. Does it mean a blog co-written by family members? Or does it refer to personal blogs about family matters? If it’s the latter, then I think my mother stands a strong chance of winning.
Thanks for the mention, guys. Maybe Globe will take those comments as a hint.
This brings me back to a post that I wrote in November 2006, titled, Read Your Children’s Blogs (on Blogs and Social Networks: Friendster, Multiply, atbp):
I became aware of blogs only when I found out what my eldest son, Angelo, was doing for a living (The J Spot). I learned that my other kids BA (18 years old), Vince (17), Pauline (13), even Alan, Jr. (10) have their own blogs. At first I was intrigued, later became interested in what they wrote, and perhaps how they wrote. But there is something BIG into it. By reading their blogs, I continue t to know them better, their interests, who their friends are (yes, they have their friends’ links in their blogroll), what their friends perceive them to be, what they do in and outside school, what makes them happy, what bothers them, their innermost thoughts, their plans, etc., etc. Their creativity in designing their blogs is also amazing! I was surprised how advanced they are in the use of computers and the internet. What about Angela and Monica? They do not have blogs, but they have Friendster accounts. There is also “My Multiply” account where they post their blogs and pictures. We parents may not really be aware of it, but chances are, with computers and online/DSL connections at home, our children not only chat, send emails or search the internet. They also have their own blogs, Friendster and My Multiply accounts which they update regularly.
I didn’t realize that while having fun, sharing part of oneself, blogging has certainly become a way to establish a dynasty (a blogging dynasty, that is). Isn’t it cool? thanks, Benj!

I’m the only one in my family who blogs fairly regularly (by that, I mean about once a week).
My sister blogs once in a blue moon. So I probably won’t qualify for a potential blogging dynasty or family award.
sexy mom: if not a blogging dynasty, at least a BLOGGER!
One of my cousins had a very unmaintained blog.
A lot of people my age don’t want anyone they know personally to read their blogs. Ako naman, I know my relatives are avid readers. I don’t see anything wrong with it, dahil, like you said, it’s actually a venue to know more about the person. Yung iba kasi, aangal ng aangal sa blog pero tatahimik lang pag kaharap mo na.
Blogging dynasty! Whew!
sexy mom: i have noticed that, too, shari. But anyway, you deserved the BIGGEST CONGRATULATIONS of all! well deserved award, you know!
hehe our whole family blogs. hecks even the pets have a blog written by their human owners.
sexy mom: CONGRATULATIONS, noemi! this year has been a sweep! and you deserve it all.
Only the two of us in the family blog, my teenage niece (she got me started) and she never read mine and she changed her domain to hide from me, but asked me for her own laptop she could blog anytime in the night in bed. But she is a Magsaysay and already belong to a Political Dynasty, only thing was her Grandpa, before he left them, decided that he doesn’t want any of his Grandchildren had anything to do with Politics anymore (that is Philippines Politics) but maybe U.S. So he bundled them all up and brought them family by family to the u.s. I heard some of their relatives are already U.S. politicians. It’s in the blood.. I guess…
sexy mom: wow! a US political dynasty in the making…
A blogging dynasty sounds cool. I would also want to read my children’s innermost thoughts. My kids know that I have a blog or a website as I refer it to them because they’re not really interested. Except for the youngest one, maybe.
sexy mom: it will come, don’t worry…
My siblings also blog, but I’m the most active of them all.
sexy mom: i read your blogs, ade, but i feel shy to comment! my son, BA, reads your siblings’ blogs-friends pala sila!
lolz I wish my parents read my blog but they don’t even know how to email lolz
sexy mom: what a pity, text na lang siguro, or the walang kamatayang overseas call…hello tatay, hello nanay…
My hubby and I are both bloggers. My daughter has a blog in her friendster account, baka maging dynasty na rin someday…hehehe.
sexy mom: young dynasty, don’t you think so?
i wish to meet the RACOMA clan
meet tayo soon tita Dine ha! take care and hello kay angelo, pakibitbit na rin po sya pag mag EB tayo
sexy mom: we’re waiting, NAO!
wow… family in the 21st century talaga
sexy mom: 21st century pala tayo? (LOL)
Super galing nyo Sexy Mom! Some kids don’t want their parents and siblings read what they’re writing. Pag si grandkid marunong na magsulat, i think magblog din yun.
sexy mom: yes, i know, some moms do not even know the social networking of their kids. about grandkid, parang nakikita ko na din—their dad, JAngelo is one of the pioneers in the phil blogosphere.
sayang di pa kasi uso ang blogging nung panahon ng mga parents, lalo na yung internet. pero siguro makikita ko nalang na balang araw ang magiging anak ko na ka blogmates ko rin
sexy mom: exciting to think about, di ba?
Siguro kung buhay pa dad ko he is the coolest dad blogger haha
hi sexymom
sexy mom: if there are only bloggers in heaven! i wonder what they do there…
Blogging dynasty? ha ha ha.
My three kids are bloggers too. The only one who is not into this is my wife but she belongs to a Yahoo Group.
Are we a dynasty too?
sexy mom: wow! a dynasty, too…being in yahoo group is in a social network, too!
wow!!blogging dynasty!!
what a nice compliment from your kid
i wish you luck!
ang sarap nga siguro ng feelings na lahat kayo ay blogger, you have one thing in common.
mom`s a good influencer
sexy mom: no, Ghee – they are the good influencers, they have been blogging like 4-5 years ago, while i started only last november.
So far the bloggers in the family are me and my cousin (Chari) who started her own blog yesterday
Haha, I convinced her. My family members are in tune with their Multiply accounts stitching stories about their photos. I tried convincing my mom but she does not type yet, but she’s willing to share her recipes in my blog (mom tags & posts) :p
sexy mom: it’s s good start, you know! it took me years before i blogged myself, i remember the kids blogging since 4 or 5 years ago.
What a brilliant piece of history to look onwards
My brother used to blog, but he hasn’t touched his blog in ages. hehe. I remember teaching my mom how to send an e-mail a record 8 times and she still wants me to teach her every weekend.
I should ask my brother to make me a wordpress theme for my birthday. haha
sexy mom: my kids must have branded me a “makulit” during my first month of blogging, i would ask them even the silliest questions when i was still fumbling with wordpress.
when is your birthday, benj?
wow! a family of bloggers, there must be some sort of competition (a healthy one, I hope) going on there
hopefully got it right this time
I’m the only one who blogs in my family… “they can’t be bothered..”,
they said—don’t even know if my husband reard my blog, to be honest
BTW, I m sorry about my url; apparently I’ve been typing it wrong
sexy mom: hope hubby reads your blogs.
am glad you have fixed it now…it will be now convenient to visit.
Wow! Nakakatuwa naman. Like some, I am the only who blogs in the family. My husband is more of the online gaming type and my sister is the friendster addict. Hmm.. Why don’t I teach my dad. Hehehe
sexy mom: in the same way that hubby is not into blogging yet. but he reads each blogs, you know!
That is indeed nice. I always tell my aunts and my mother to try blogging as well
sexy mom: and are they now considering?
hahah ang cute! blogging dynasties, indeed!
sexy mom: yeah, kinda, cute, part the little un, he is in hiatus right now, but has been hinting that he would be writing again.
I wonder what it’d be like to have everyone in my family blogging as well.
Blogging Dynasty—love it!
sexy mom: maybe it will be one great photograph after another!
Haha, blogging dynasty – that’s a new one! In our family, my sisters and I have our own blogs. I wonder how it feels to read a parent’s blog. But I guess, in our case, we’ll never know.
sexy mom: at least you sisters get to read each other’s blogs! think of it this way—tita’s blogs are next to mom’s, fine with you?
tita dine, paki email po ulit yung phone number mo plssss
sexy mom: done, NAO, please call…
