Sweet Sixteen

&Today is Angela’s 16th birthday!

Happy Birthday Chato (as we fondly call her). Chato is child no. 5 of 7, and daughter no. 2 of 3. She is also a middle child (for me, any child between the eldest and youngest is a middle child).

Chato is independent, responsible and dependable. She has never been angry, she has never even upset me. I can go on and on saying all good things about her not because today is her special day, but because it’s true. She has a big heart for everyone. I have written this poem for her, which I am sharing with you.

you are sweet sixteen
a little girl no more
a big girl not yet
slightly in between maybe
just be yourself
keep the smile
the merry laughter
thoughts that tickle you pink
secrets that make you blush
daydreams galore
pensive moods, giggles
theater, proms, movies
ribbons and curls
trinkets, make up, perfume
tiara and brattz

savour precious moments
with friends, special friends
and best friends
cherish each passing day
with siblings, mom and dad
mommylola, too
shun them who make you cry
forget them who hurt you
you are liked, you are loved
forever in my heart
happy birthday, chato
my sweet sixteen!

We celebrated Chato’s special day at The Old Spaghetti House (TOSH) in Katipunan, one day ahead because her birthday is the start of her final exams week. TOSH continues to be one of the family’s favorite hang out, best for their pasta and desserts.

Chato’s birthday celebration didn’t end last night, she promised her classmates that she would treat them for movies and snacks at Eastwood on Tuesday, then her siblings on Wednesday.

And today morning, thanks to Max’s –they are launching their Power Breakfasts–we will be having a free meal. Max’s has distributed coupons for free breakfast during the launch, fro 7 am to 10 am, in any of their branches. These coupons were distributed to bloggers–oh, the perks.     Big lovely family you have, sexy mom and greetings to the sweet sixteen.

    Last July, we have the honour to host the 16 th of our niece, the youngest of our youngest sister and also that was her first trip out of U.S. since arriving in Dec 2005.

    For party, we had a barbecue in our backyard and a lot of “Kasimanwas” for guests and the Birthday girl went back to Northern California with her own laptop to do her blogging. (she has me started not only blogging but the internet).
