FIND NEW STOCK MARKET TERMS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST
My boys are offline, or at least 2 of them–BA and Vince.
It’s sem break for UP students. BA left for Baguio City last Tuesday evening with 9 other friends as “observers” to a gathering of physicists at UP Baguio. I was able to get for them a house with 3 bedrooms, about 5 minutes walk to UP. The house, I gathered, is fully furnished SANS for an internet connection.
Vince left with a group of friends (B Boys, they call themselves, being in section B at Ateneo High School) for Matabungkay last Wednesday. The resthouse where they are staying is modern, cool, fully furnished SANS for an internet connection.
Not one of them nor their friends have mobile connection, they are only students anyway.
Vince brought his HP Mini Note–only to view his favorite shows that he has downloaded lately. He and his friends decided that they just wanted to have fun–to recapture the real fun they had in high school, like bonding together, jamming, listening to music or playing, gadgetry–WII, PSP, communing with nature, and perhaps boys’ talk.
BA, on the other hand, did not bring his Mac PowerBook, though he was tempted to–he heard that there was WiFi in Burnham Park. In the end, he and his friends decided that just this time, they would try to live offline for 4 days.
I realized that now that they are offline, they are making do, actually enjoying themselves–and they were wondering earlier what was life without internet connection? In UP, some colleges have WiFi connection, like where BA (School of Physics) and Vince (College of Business Administration) go to.
I am an offline victim
And I was the first victim–a willing victim actually, as all through BA’s 6-hour trip to Baguio (they took a Victory Liner Bus at 11 pm, were given student discount for their fare), he kept on texting me, where they were, how cold it was in the bus, how early they reached Baguio, how cold it was at 4:30 am, how they found their way to Chow King, sometimes just to say “labyuuuuu”. And I would always text back.
Missing Plurk
I realized then that BA must have missed plurking. Two days before the Baguio trip, he registered on Plurk, with an alibi that he just wanted to keep his name on Plurk, lest another person registers and uses his name. He must have been amused since he has been trying to convince me to return to plurking, so that he would have a buddy to help him boost his karma, while he was notworking (oooppps, networking was what he meant). Sorry, I told him, not this time. Soon he will find out if Plurk is for him or not.
Having a good time offline?
From the time that he left till to date, he has given me blow by blow details of what they have been doing, what they “cooked” for dinner, as if they knew how to cook (they are trying hard though), how much they spent for marketing, asked what to do with the extra chicken, what is in the news (as they were watching another program), etc., etc. Now, I tell myself, this is what OFFLINE makes of a person who is so used to being online. But yes, BA and his friends are enjoying themselves, savoring their time in Baguio, doing things that they do not do here in Manila, like taking care of themselves, walking, hiking, going to market. They will be back to Manila tomorrow evening, ONLINE once more.
Vince is also enjoying himself. They brought with them a lot of food, junk food included–or was it just junk food, I think I have to ask him. Last night they were playing cards, that’s what he texted me.
And both Vince and BA text me “good night, Mama, love you po” before they go to sleep, and text the same when they wake up in the morning. I am kinda enjoying this OFFLINE thingey with my boys, but can only heave a sigh of relief when they are back safe and sound tomorrow evening.
Left with my 3 boys (and 3 girls)
As to my other 2 boys, I always see Angelo twittering, sometimes I comment on his twitts, while Alan Jr would say “hello mam” on YM from his room, if he is not beside me looking at what I am doing and helping me with my htmls. My other boy, I mean man–being offline doesn’t bother hubby at all–he is not an online person. He only calls or sends text messages if he is out of town or out of the country.
My 3 girls–they do multiply and go on YM, but these are just two of their many activities as young girls.
Me–it’s obvious, I am online almost 24/7. Call of nature, I mean, call of my work. lol
NEW STOCK MARKET TERMS
This has been circulating in the email, and I found it soooo amusing! It’s like I am now in the know how on stock market activities, and it is easier for me to understand articles on the US Financial Crisis.

I tried offline, and I enjoy it. I just jumped back into my habbit of vegging out of books. You know, reading for 16 hours straight because my mother’s staying with me and she takes over the feeding of my kids while I’m alternating between my favorite spots with my stacks of books.
Love the market terms.
Sexy Mom:i, too, enjoy my offline time–i catch up on my sleep. the moment i hold a book, i fall asleep. lol

and this one too:Stock Trading Terms and your doctor
Sexy Mom: thanks, myepinoy! very interesting. nice of you to have come up with rapping sounding poem (tama ba ang ginamit kong words?), i was also especially amused with your doctor terms. i worked with an international development bank for 22 years, but did not encounter those terms–i was more on the operational side, rather than the trading. now i realize that stock trading is exciting–looking at those terminologies and all. but not this time? how about updating their meanings taking into consideration the current financial crunch? i wonder…
