Mother is 69–but look, she looks like she is only 50!

Today, my mother turns 69. She’s “Mommylola” or “Ma” to my kids, and “Ma” to me. Most times I affectionately call her “Inda” (mother in Kapampangan). Yes, she is 69, but look, she looks like she is ony 50!
I have so much to thank the Good Lord for my mother—she has seen through the growing years of my children, since 24 years ago when I gave birth to 2nd child, Monica. She has never left us since then, except for an occassional 2- or 3-day trip to her hometown.
She is the SECRET to many of my successes, including my being a true Sexy Mom to my kids. My home is alive with her peals of laughter and incessant talk. Her cooking is superb. She does everything that a mother does for me, my husband and my children. She even attends parent-teacher meetings on my behalf. She is in fact my kids’ second mother. How she pampers them, cooking for them their favorite food everyday—I cannot imagine where she gets her enegy, anticipating their every need, and just giving them her tender loving care.
When asked what her secret is for looking younger than her age—her usual answer is, “I bathe with the left over water that my grandchildren use for bathing”, not even an urban legend—she is the only person I know who says that. On the other hand there is this saying that one only has to look at her mother to see how she will look when she gets old. If that is how I will look when I am almost 70, I would like it very much.
On her birthday, I wish for her blessings of continuous health (at 69 she’s in perfect health), lots of love (what big heart she has), peace (seeing us, her 3 children securely in place) and happiness.
HAPPY 69th, Mother dear. We love you!
One of the most touching poems i wrote about my mother is here: Mother is 67, Going 68, and I am 49.
