I found Vince last night laughing hysterically. Soon his other siblings joined him, roaring in laughter, in front of the laptop. I asked what it was all about, and they could not even answer me in complete sentences. All they could say was “jologs, jologs”.
I have been hearing this word time and again, and no matter how my kids would explain to me, I could not even relate. Now, I know why. I joined them scroll down the pages of an article from The Man Blog (hey, J Angelo, I know you are a part of this team), called Know Your Jologs and another article Know Your Jologs, Part 1. Vince also has an article on this.
Now, I am getting back at them. See the picture? The picture of my 4 boys, J Angelo, BA, Vince and Alan, Jr. I asked them the whereabouts of a controversial picture that I took of them about 4 years ago. No one wanted to tell me. They have left for school this morning, and it took me almost an hour to search the files, and voila – I found the picture (note: they were not drunk—they were not even of age then). .. Now, who’s jologs? Another meaning of jologs can be found here.

Now, I’ve got to change my wordpress password before this post disappears from cyberspace. cmon boys, this is just for fun!

I’ve been of age a long time before that picture was taken.
Together we will chase it around perdition’s flame.
I was wondering what it meant by jologs before as I was also tagged as jolog. “napag-iwanan” until my friends describe me, then i started to see myself as probinsyano, not only as a jolog
LoL!
ah, yes, J Angelo, i forgot you were already of age then…hmmmm, but the rest were below 18!
now, brVince, i am again confused as to what jologs really means…
Bawal yan. Below 18 yung mga nandiyan. Ang tawag diyan, child pornography. Bwahahaha
At ang puti ko pala
hmm I heard my girls tagging jologs to some too, when I asked them what do you really mean by jologs? sabi nila…basta jologs! hahha, they couldn’t even define what’s the exact meaning.
btw, sexy mom…thanks for visiting my blog. with regards to the font, it’s my friend sasha who did it for me.
HAH! Thank you so much dine! Angelo has been blackmailing me with this picture he took of me wearing a tiara. Btw, nice bod angelo
hahahaha..Dine, what are your boys doing? flexing their muscles…hmmm…great looking chests! hehe
i’ve heard jologs before but wasn’t sure if i knew what it meant. does jologs mean baduy?
Cool kids!
hahaha, at least your sons did not react violently on this (or did they?)
as far as i know, jologs refer to the masa, not necessarily baduy but those we can say the bakya-crowd. it may also refer to preferring “ordinary” stuff than the flashy ones, or to one’s taste or way of talking or being a fan of certain band and the list goes on..
some say the term was born during the peak of Jolina Magdangal’s popularity, her fans were called Jologs.
Jologs. wala sa wikipedia eh. wala din sa tagalog-english dictionary. Jologs—i guess unhip. Opposite of panalo? Just guessing. haha
i also dont know what is jologs means. i only heard it from the young ones. does it mean baduy o walang taste? btw, thanks for visiting my blog and the compliment too.
wow, i was still in shape, fair skinned and smooth back then. anyway, jologs is the new word for baduy, only it’s more jologs. can’t really describe. it’s baduy, but worse. hahaha!
Mwahahahahahaha! Sexy Mom… yup! You got the meaning of jologs. You’re so funny.
jologs as used could also mean “In” or like the old – In crowd. For the young ones whatever the groups as long as they are in one frame of mind, they are ‘jologs”. Just guessing..
LOL. I love it. This is such a perfect example of, “papunta ka pa lang, pabalik na ako”....hehehe
Kids need to learn not to mess with their mothers. We have boxes of evidence of their shenanigans from the day they were born. tsk tsk
Mah … Ano? Jologs?
I am confused. Haha.
Basta alam ko pag tinawag kang Jologs eh there’s something wrong about your looks. Pwedeng baduy, corny, basta something masagwa sa yo…hehehe. That’s Jologs.
BA and Vince, my dear macho sons, thanks for allowing your mom to have fun, at your expense. and vince, see, i promised to make it “decent”. mwah! love ya! for being sport, i guess you are not jologs!
Mikey – when J Angelo exposes you wearing a tiara, do let me know, let’s see if it fits the wearer (lol). thanks for visiting.
Anna and Belle, thanks! zherwin says is not necessarily baduy, but something more. Vince and Ann say yes, it means baduy and more…oh, well, now it gets confusing. even Kyels is confused now. even Mousey still does not get its meaning,
Toe and Dexie are laughing out loud, maybe, even rolling! yes, Dexie—we have loads of them shenanigans, BUT wait, they also have them, something like the un-sexy ones, the bulging waistlines, the eye bags…
and Vic, thanks for the guess.
Hi there. I was passing thru, by way of Nona. I learned something from your blog…the word jolog. Ha ha…kids really coin new words that the older ones, like me, would never know. I like that urban dictionary…thanks for that…I’ll keep coming here.
Here’s the IMHO best definition of jologs (and in an academic POV too) from the Jolographer himself, Paolo Manalo – Being the True, the Good, the Beautiful and Definitive Meaning of Jologs.
[...] Sexy Mom Dine Racoma (guess the relation) also posted her take on the matter with “Jologs”, What Does It Mean? [...]
thanks, Mari! i discovered this urban dictionary only last night, it was an addition to this post. Alex has found a positive meaning of jologs.
thanks a lot, Alex!
people have come up with a various meanings of “jologs”, good, bad, so so, extremes, etc.
as to the extremes, it’s so sad. if that is “jologs”, i guess instead of frowning at them, someone has to take initiative in helping these young people get out of their being “jologs”, like giving them better constructive things to do, rehabilitating them when needed, so that when they grow up, they could have a positive contribution to society.
Hi, Dine,
I like your title, Sexy Mom, and I think you are. Thanks for visiting my blog. Also, I am sure you will enjoy Music and Lyrics. I recommend it, especially if you are a Hugh Grant fan like me.
Will come back to read more.
Princess
Thanks for the picture. I will never look at JAngelo the same way again.
BTW, thanks for linking to my articles.
hahaha, i heart the urbandictionary. guess i hit it right with the jolina organization lol. reminds me of the jolina/amacc jokes when text messages were just plain text messages. geez, i.am.so.jologs.
Can I link you to my blog?
ha! ha! Cool kids you have there. I bet they were to surprised to see this photo.
Jologs have been defined in so many ways. There was even a movie about it. I think it connotes being “baduy”.
AKo rin di k alam meaning nyan :(! In short, i am getting old !
jologs=baduy
yan ang pagkakaintindi ko
Jologs used to be more of a derogatory term to describe people with tastes that leaves more to be desired. This would apply to people who like the daytime soaps, cheesy show bands etc.
This term then branched out to the lovers and makers of kupaw (read: Slapshock and all their offsrpring) music, filipino ghetto (haha, oxymoron) rap music and novelty songs.
Later on, a sense of jologs pride surfaced thanks to the movie of the same title. People actually took charge of their own taste and became accountable for it in the “This is what I like and those who don’t like could do nothing about it”.
As time wore on, the term jologs became the new “lame”. Everything uncool, dysfunctional, improper etc. became jologs.
So at this point in time, term Jolog/s can mean a lot of things. I can either be a badge of honor, a light quip or an insult.
Haha, ang haba ng post ko. ang jolog tuloy. :p
I hope that helped.
I didn’t know what jologs meant either.
So it pretty much means like “getto” here.
I’ve never used the term jologs to refer or describe a person, but I do know what it means. Benj’s comment pretty much sums up everything.
At first di ko rin gets kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng Jologs,i thought it was cool when they call you one.kabaligtaran pala
What’s this sudden frenzy about jologs? I’ve been seeing some people posting about it on their blogs. Hihi. ‘Ala lang, yeah it’s funny
