Gold for the Golden

Oh yes! The Golden deserves only the Gold. And what have I got? A Golden Retriever—we named her Mucci or Moochie. Her original name was Raisin because her eyes looked like raisins and her other 8 siblings were named Butterscotch, Cinnamon, etc.), but the kids thought she deserved a name that is cuddly, cute and easy to say. Just when Angelo came for visit, he picked her up and called her “Moochie” out of nowhere! And so Moochie it was, or Mucci.
Mucci came to our home a few days before I turned golden—she has brought more laughter, fun, joy and sunshine to our home. The kids, in the same way that I do, always look forward to coming home to a Mucci-filled home. We would spend time playing with her, cuddling her, chasing around, or just quietly caressing her when she’s asleep. In the evenings to early mornings, while I quietly work away, Mucci keeps me company—sometimes quietly curled by my feet, or stays on my lap.
Pauline has brought Mucci to a “love for the loveless party” on valentine’s day. Vince plans to register him at the Ateneo so he could walk her there; BA promised to bring her to the Sunken Garden for a run; Alan Jr spends a lot of fun in the afternoons as he is the one who comes home the earliest. Monica is as crazy over her as the others—she has introduced Mucci to her new boyfriend, and even Chato who thought she would be allergic, likes her a lot—she does not itch. Oh, Mucci can get away with her naughtiness. How she excites the two other doggies who live outside the house—Poochie and Mutty. Mucci is very much a member of the family now—WELCOME MOOCHIE, WELCOME MUCCI!
This is the letter we had when we picked up Mucci from her former home:
.Dear Tito Alan, Tita Dine and Cousins,
Hi! We are now giving you one of our treasured and most loved puppies. We believe that she will be in very good hands, knowing that your family will shower her with TLC—tender loving care.
Here are some of guildelines by the vet of Animal House:
- Food: Give her “large breed puppy food” like Eukanuba, etc.
- Multivitamines: PETVITES, 1/2 tablet daily
- Vaccine: Vaccinate 5 in 1 vaccine and give deworming also, 1 wek after arrival in the new home. Observe the puppy for 1 week if she is alert, happy and has adjusted.
- Sponge bath: Use face towel with Perla soap to wipe all over the body. Then wipe with rinsed face towel. Use lukewarm water.
- Bathing: This can only be done on 6 March onwards which is 3 months after birth (6 Dec 2007). Use lukewarm water and puppy shampoo. Bathe the puppy fast 2x a week only to prevent colds, etc. Comb hair after bathing.
- Don’ts: Chocolates, real bones, any foods other than prescribed puppy food. Plant like ivy, plastics, papers, etc that can choke the puppy to death.
- Grooming: Can be done every 2-3 months to be handled by experts, if possible.
The parents (Chuckie and Onyx) of the puppy come from a very good breed/pedigree. The vet said the puppy can in the future participate in dog shows/competitions of well cared for and trained well.
We really love this puppy!
Thank you very much! Hope to see her in our yearly reunions!
Love,
Bea and Marielle
.
Thanks, Bea and Marielle. We promise to take care of her. Next year, when she meets her other 8 siblings (who now are with other cousins and best friends of Bea and Marielle), they would surely be the gallant guys and stylish bitches that we all perceive them to be.
It’s just like having a new baby once more. Oh yes, everyone calls Mucci, “baby, bebe, babes”. The kids also know that along with Mucci comes a BIG responsibility.

She is BIG, alright
How cute! I’ve always wanted to have a Golden Retriever myself, but maybe when I have the time to take care of them.
Awwwwwwwww, Mucci is so adorable. I just want to give her a big hug.
What a cute Golden Dog!
I prefer Moochie because it reminds me of Smoochie hehehe
Anyway, I never thought that there’s a list of guidelines for puppies. Maybe it’s because i never had a new pet after the trauma i got from my pet dog when i was younger.
Hope to meet you soon Moochie! (Or Mucci?hehe)
What a cute puppy. Gorgeous.
AWWWW! Mucci is soooooo cute! We have a golden Labrador but ours is now a BIG dog. We also have 5 dachschunds.
Dogs are really man’s best friends and we can never be without any dogs at all.
Looks like you have all already taken to loving your new baby!
How cute!
I wanted to have a dog again for the longest time but I know I won’t be able to take care of it because of my schedule. For now, I’m sticking with cats, not that high-maintenance as dogs.
Hi Mucci, you are one handsome doggy, as handsome as me! You should learn to use the internet so we can have an online playdate sometime.

Woah! What a cute doggie! I’ve always been a dog person ever since I was little. Dogs are my weaknesses. I even cringe deep inside when I see poor dogs on the streets.
Quite ironic though, we have a white cat in the house right now. And I can’t play with her without succumbing to a sneezing fit afterwards, haha!
