Deal or No Deal

“Deal or No Deal”, the game show. My mom’s definitely missing it! Other family members are somehow missing it! Not that it makes a lot of sense, not that it educates, there is not even a trick or trivia question here, it does not even challenge one’s intelligence. It’s a light game show, but toward the end, when decisions are to be made, tensions rise. Even those watching cheer to no end, dividing the audience and homes into “deal” on one hand and “no deal” on the other hand.
Oh yes, Kris Aquino is a witty game show host, but sometimes she tends to be tactless, sometimes insulting, the remarks leaving a bitter taste in the mouth. The contestants might not be aware of this because of the high tension deep within. But that’s Kris…it’s her trademark, and this is another story. Kris has promised to be back in May, after her maternity leave.
Today, my mom went quietly to her room, she said she would try to sleep early. She’s not sad, but she’s not very happy either. There seems to be some emptiness in her. She has even lost interest on the telenovelas following the program. Admittedly, she said she was missing the program, it has been 3 days now. I know she will get over it, but it will take time. “Deal or No Deal” has given her relaxed evenings after the day to day tasks of taking care of my large family.
Oh, why has the TV station not even thought of assigning a temporary host during Kris’ absence? I don’t know, it’s trivial, it should really be no big deal. But “Deal or No Deal” has left a mark in the heart of my mom, and in the hearts of many Filipinos. No doubt, she’ll get over it. Positive thing is, she will have more sleeping time, more beauty rest. Now her 6 grandkids (by me) and the eldest (plus the 2 great grandkids when they are visitng) will have to say good night a little bit early. Being the “mommylola” to my large family is no joke, it’s a gigantic task. Her 7 grandkids and 2 great grandkids are ever grateful, and would like to say “love you, Mommylo!”

libre para sayo lol!!
I’ll comment later pagbalik ko
thanks sa pagbisita ulit
For the life of me, I cannot stand watching Kris too long, so hindi pa ako nakapanood ng buong Deal or No Deal…I’m not surprised they couldn’t find anyone to take her place. To put it mildly, she is quite a character..hmm..maybe Miriam Defensor Santiago? hehe.
Ex-link tayo, sexymom, ha? I’ve already put you in my bloglist
What a wonderful mom to look after her grandkids and great-grandkids. And you’re right. It’s not an easy task. Hats off to her.
Actually I just heard na they’re not showing Deal or No Deal na pala.
Oh that’s too bad for your Mom but you’re right. At least she can go to bed earlier than her usual bedtime.
Anyway I don’t think it will work if someone else will host the shoe even if it’s just temporary
yeah…kris can really be very tactless and inconsiderate with her comments most of the time, but oh well, she has proven herself to be quite credible and bankable despite everything.
as with deal or no deal, i think it’s more of its contract expiring than with kris’ leave that’s the reason. the show’s contract was supposedly to have expired last year pa, mga october or november yata, but that ABS-CBN just extended it due to the demand. the station has to give way na to its other shows/projects.
i was able to catch the episode of a barangay captain who went against his contituents who are all shouting “deal! deal!” because they already lost the big bucks and then eventually settled for P1.00. i like the comment made by Kris there, she says that it’s a lesson that everyone running in the election should LISTEN to what the people are saying (or something like that) or suffer the consequences.
kris is such a smarty (that’s debatable i think)
See? I’m not the only fan of Kris.
isip tayo ng pwedeng ipalit sa deal of no deal for your mom
pero as you’ve said, she will have more sleeping time now ..kaya huwag na lang
I watch it too from time to time. I sometimes shudder when Kris gives some of her tactless remarks. I feel sorry for some of the players who catches her attention in a not-so-nice-way. But that’s Kris and I have somehow accepted her bubbly, carefree and frank attitude in life.
Don’t worry, the program will be back before you know it. I’m sure Ch. 2 will make it even more exciting when Kris comes back and viewers such as your mom will be delighted.
hi sexy mom, or is it ok to call you tita? hehehe…
1st, thanks for droppin my blog
2nd, you’re so cool and if its ok can we exchange links? i have linked you up already..
3rd,i’m not much of a fan ng deal or no deal but i guess ano man po ang abangan natin araw-araw kapag nawala un ang hirap na ulit mag-adjust hehehe…. *wink
It’s going to show in Malaysia soon … (:
Cannot wait to see it because I have heard a great deal about it.
Wow SuperMom and SuperLola sya ! I admire her for that, she’s quite young pa rin
! I wish I have my Mom with me & my lola too kaso layo ko naman kasi sa kanila
. I only see them every 2 years kay I profit the days i spend with them !
i haven’t seen the show yet ! My Mom is a fan of Cris too, naku magkakasundo sila ni MommyLo
i’ve not seen that game show yet even one time, but i’ve read about it a lot in some other blogs.
dumalaw tita Dine, nag relax dito sandali at nagbasa ng iba pa. Have a nice day
The only episode I’ve ever watched was when Boy Abunda was the contestant. Couldn’t argue, all of my relatives were tuned in
I’ve never liked Kris, although I do enjoy her candor once in a while. I just don’t watch her long enough to make me hate her so much, LOL. I have this love-hate relationship with her that’s very confusing. I like her – in a way – but at the same time, I’m also repulsed.
Still, I don’t like her. Too bad about Deal or No Deal though. It brought entertainment to many people. _
I can’t blame your mum, it’s an addictive game show (so addictive, they have it here 7 days a week!)
I didn’t know Kris is expecting… she’s an interesting character , I can’t help but like her
I like it that you wrote about your Mom. I don’t like it that she has to go without her fave show. I like-don’t like Kris Aquino, depending.I like her for being unabashedly, unapolegetically her own person—take it or leave it. Often, I leave it. haha. I don’t like her for the same reasons. Oooohhhaha
i was reading your comments each time they came in, but i was too engrossed in writing about that highly emotional piece “she’s 67, going 68, and i am 49”. all about my relationship with my mother.
Your mom looks great. My daughter and I enjoy Deal or no Deal (the one hosted vy Howie Mandell – US and Canada version). I have had not the chance to catch any of Kris’ version yet. I do watch her at Game ka na Ba once in a while.
You can try to catch Deal or no Deal at You Tube or the websites
