Fly High! Blue Eagle the King!

2008…CELEBRATE!

The Blue Eagle Bonfire

The 6pm Thanksgiving Mass was held on 30 September 2008, at the Church of the Gesu, followed by a program, and fireworks at the Bellarmine Field.

It rained earlier at 5pm (it happened, too, during the celebrations of the 2002 Championships), so the Bellarmine Field was all wet and muddy. Still, this did not dampen the spirits of the thousands who came, the Ateneo Community of officials, academe, alumni, students, parents and friends, who came to celebrate. It was a time for bonding as friends met friends, classmates of long ago, co-parents, even blog friends who share the same blue orientation. Free drinks—softdrinks, health drinks and beer were a-flowing, I saw three roast calves feasted on—for free, and various food concessionaires. It was really a time for celebrationm merriment, glee and catching up with each other. The only hitch was that text messages were so difficult to send, and phone calls were very difficult to connect.

A tribute was given to the various teams for their ahievement during the Season.

The Blue Babble Battalion also had their share of fun, as they entertained the audience. The athletes were ever gracious to mix with the crowd, signing autographs, posing for pictures.
