Bababa ba? Happy Birthday, BA!

April 4th, 2007 by Sexy Mom · Viewed 1979 times · 19 Comments

Today, 4 April is BA’s 19th birthday (BA is child no. 3 of 7, and son no. 2 of 4). How time flies so fast! I remember 19 years ago, when BA was born—all of 9 lbs and 13 oz! No choice, delivery had to be by caesarian section (then 4 more Caesarians afterwards).

When we saw him in the nursery, he was by far the biggest among all the babies. His sister, Monica, until now says, that her recollection of BA was as a giant among the newly borns, all round and pink with a full head of hair! She said it felt like getting the biggest gift under the Christmas tree.

As the baby of the family, his older siblings were so “nanggigigil” over him, and played pranks on him all the time. At one point, J Angelo (8 years older than BA) even stuck a (heated!) fork in BA’s arm (signs of craziness eccentricity way back then). Monica (5 years older than BA) was discovered putting chili peppers in his mouth one midnight just to see him turn red. Of course they were reprimanded, but until now, they still laugh about those times.

BA’s experience of being bunso (youngest in the family) was short lived—he became a kuya (elder brother) to Vince when he was only 1 year and 5 months. Then 2 more girls and a boy followed suit. I am not really sure if having 2 elder siblings and 4 younger ones was stressful to him, while he was growing up. Or could it have been fun?

Up until grade 4, he was very shy. He still remembers the silly things he was made to do in school, like dancing the “itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini”. He would blush when he was called to recite in class. This all changed when he was in grade 6—he got a lead role in the Ateneo Children’s Theater. He has overcome his shyness. Since then, he has proved to be a good leader, a dancer, a trying hard (?) breakdancer, trying hard (?) ballroom dancer, guitarist, trying hard (?) singer, a sweet son, a loving brother, a cheerful classmate, a man for others, and a young man of God. Probably another typical example of “middle child” syndrome.

BA, a true blue Atenean, moved to UP for college. He loves Math! He loves Physics! That is why, my husband and I have given our blessings for him to shift from Statistics to Physics. Exposure to UP has made him a changed man, a better person—independent, street smart, more sensitive to the needs of those who have less in life, at the same time keeping his Atenean ideals (5Cs: Christ-centeredness, competence, compassion, commitment, and conscience).

Happy birthday, BA! We all love you!

PS: Do check your ATM! surprise is wating!

Note: BA has a personal blog called “Bababa ba“.

And yeah, I still remember the fork incident. I was only 3, if I remember correctly, when Jingo forked me.

I remember, too, how ladies used to go gaga over my “tattoo.” I still have the four faint fork prongs on my left arm. Hahaha.

@Shari: I was that big. Lol.

sexy mom: i still remember how it was BA, and how it hurt!

Happy birthday to your son. He’s the same age as my daughter , M who is also in UP. Initially her course was Physics but the admission guys bungled it and she ended up with BA Psych. All my kids were delivered via cesarian.

sexy mom: thanks, Noemi. Physics and Psych are totally different! does she like psych now? as for BA, he really liked Physics, he was in Stat because that was the course he ticked in his application form. it must have been me and my husband who bungled it all up (lessons learned).

  • noemi // Apr 4, 2007 at 9:54 am

Well Physics was her second choice not knowing she got accepted in BA Psych. Admission said she got in Physics. But now she’s happy with BA Psych. She’s doing really well.

sexy mom: i’m glad to hear that, Noemi. i hope that BA will do well in Physics.

Happy Birthday to BA! Wishing him more wonderful opportunities in school and extra curricular activities.

Wow, 9.13 lbs! He was a big baby indeed no wonder you had to undergo CS.

    Physics … I’m impressed!

On a different note, I want to thank you for answering the question on my blog. We probably met through chance as I enjoy reading comments on blogs I visit. If a nice comment catches my attention, I don’t hesitate to visit that site to read more. I enjoyed my first visit and become a frequent visitor on your site. I remember you tagging me to share some of my secrets. I got a bit carried away and shared too much. wink

sexy mom: thanks oh, yes, for me, physics is difficult.

yah, i kinda remember now, and the secrets, wink wink, i too, got carried away, i wrote a hilarious post Sexy Mom-Bared! since then, i, too, was hooked on your site!

    Belated Happy Birthday BA.

I was thinking, if you did not move to UP, you probably are involve in TA as you have the talent, as your mother enumerated. And perhaps, you will meet my second son.

    God Bless you.

sexy mom: thanks! your son must be very talented to be with TA. was he with “sibol” in high school? BA must have known him.

Though I know it is kind of late, here’s hoping you had a wonderful birthday, Mr BA! My eldest is 19 years old and has recently shifted to Biomedical Engineering from Human Bio as she thinks she will do well as an engineer.
