Tonight is the junior prom night of 16-year old Angela, known to her friends as Chato. Oh, how long she looked forward to it, how long has she planned for it, from her gown, to shoes, accessories, bag, make up, hair, and her date. Preparations and planning have not only become a family affair, more so, they were a few months in the making with her friends.
She and her sisters searched the internet for the style of gown they thought would fit her 100 lb frame, and bring out the best in her. When she has found the style that she wanted, she had to ask for funding—this time, it was her dad who gave her the money for her gown and the payment for the party. Her siblings were kidding Chato that she was their dad’s favorite. Her brothers took turns driving her to have her measurements taken, choose materials, fitting and picking up her gown. Other siblings helped her with her shopping. There was also one trip to the malls with her friends.

And before everyone knew it, prom night was just four days away. How aghast everyone was when she woke up Tuesday evening with red, large rashes all over her arms, legs and limb. She had to be rushed by her dad for an anti-allergy shot at the nearest hospital. Doctor assured her that by prom night, she would be back to her flawless form, if she took her medications exactly as prescribed. Wednesday morning seemed to be okay, the rashes had subsided, but by Thursday she was starting to itch all over again. We had to spend the whole morning with the doctors again, this time with a dermatologist, who prescribed steroids and the usual liniments, creams, soaps that dermatologists are fond to precribe and would cost thousands of pesos. Anything—just for Chato to be rash-free come Saturday evening.
Friday evening, rather early Saturday morning, she had to be rushed again to St Luke’s Medical Hosp for another shot—the rashes have turned from worse to worst. Poor Chato, she has lost 5 lbs over 3 days, as she was placed on a hypo-allergenic diet.
And Sexy Mom had to give up everything she was doing on Saturday, just to be with Chato, boosting her morale, rubbing creams on her rashes, giving her medicines on time, making her eat, and the last activity—works on nails, hair and make up. She almost had a panic attack while her nails were cleaned, she asked me to hold her hand all the time.

Back home, while dressing up she said, “I have long waited and prepared for this, now is the night, and it’s like time is so short”. I told her, what make the prom fun are the planning and preparations, with prom night only as the highlight. We only had time to take a few photos, when her escort came to the house to pick her up. We sent them our best wishes—to enjoy the night away. They’re off now to NBC Tent at the Bonifacio Global City.
By the way, her rashes have disappeared miraculously, next thing to do is an allergy test. If not food-related allergy or insect bites, could this be a stress-related or excitement-related thing? We are yet to know—after PROM NIGHT.

I admire the support that your family has given Angela in the preparation for her JS Prom. I know this means a lot to her, since this is one of the most exciting part of being a highschool. It is a “coming-out event” for our teens, memories will surely last a lifetime.
My Ishi will have her JSProm by next year and I am so exicted for her as well.
I remember my prom night when i was in my senior year. I had a high fever tapos nawala nung gabi haha
Angela is very fortunate to have such a caring and supportive family. And you’re a great parent Tita! Would love to hear how her prom night turned out to be.
(:
It touches me so how your whole family supported Angela on that very important night – the prom night. Sigh! Miss ko tuloy ang baby ko… I remember how she too, literally put the whole family on red alert during those preparations for her prom nights. Now she’s in college, I have no one to dote on anymore here.

Ang ganda nya, I bet, ganyan ka ganda si supermom when she was young (and beautiful)!
and teen pa lang yan ha. Oist, pang bato yan sa miss teen, phils, sali na!
wow she’s so pretty. all that hard work paid off
I would have panicked myself if that happened to me just days before prom night! Good thing her rashes disappeared just in time.
your daughter is pretty! I’m sure the rasher were stress related!
hihihi!
ur one cool mom!
Your Angela is fortunate to have your and your husband for parents. you must be so proud of her…she’s beautiful!
I understand numerous hospital trips, I undestand allergies, and all the money I would pay if I could just make my son allergy-free. His cure, I can’t buy because it doesn’t exist yet.
