Let me share with you, dear Readers, a poignant love and life story of dear friends, Tony Joaquin and his wife, Chita. Tony was a publisher of several trade magazines in Manila during the martial-law years up to the murder of Sen. Benigno Aquino, when he decided to move his family to Daly City, California. He was charter founder and past president of the Philippine Society for Training and Development and considered one of the country’s top experts on human resource development from the seventies and eighties. He was a contributor to the Saturday Mirror Magazine and other weekend supplement magazines in Manila, specializing in tongue-in-cheek essays.Tony is currently an active contributor to Filipino American publications in the San Francisco Bay area. He is the nephew of Nick Joaquin (national artist for literature). He has written an autobiography, “Simple Glories”, which he launched on 11 October 2000. His blog is called, My Family and More.

It’s a good thing that even though the number separated families are growing almost rapidly, there are some who are lasting for long. But I have never seen a couple last for 48 great years. Just now! As I see it, they really love each other and committed to their vow.

    Cheers to them! Congratulations! :)

such a joyous occasion. in l986, the four of us in Canada took a very memorable trip home, first to witness the wedding of our of twins youngest sisters in Manila and a week after with the whole family, including all the grandchildren from elder siblings (eight in the family) bundled up for a trip to our hometown in Iloilo, to Celebrate our parents Golden (50th) anniversary, solemnized by my mother’s Nephew who did just all family wedding including a special trip to Manila to do my sister’s (bibs’ mom) and that was the visit we all cherished. both my parents passed away now, but theirs was a wonderful life full of sacrifices and fruition of their dreams.

[...] So it was no surprise (well, in fact, a very pleasant one) to learn that the inventor of the Karaoke is a Filipino. No, it’s not the Japanese that first came up with it like what most everyone thinks.
