A Miracle Indeed

Yesterday afternoon, after hearing Mass, family went for snacks to Jollibee in Katipunan. It has been months since our last Jollibee visit. We then went to National Bookstore, one the kids’ favorite nooks. While Angela and I were flicking through the pages of some magazines for prom clothes and homecoming gowns (she has been invited to a prom 3 weeks from now, and she is toying with the idea of either buying one off the rack or having one made for her), she suddenly felt this excruciating pain below the tummy. She had the urge to urinate, but she said it was a totally different kind of feeling. I had to call everyone to tell them that we had to go, paid for our purchases, then headed for home, about 10 minutes away.
At home, she had difficulty urinating, it was not a simple case of “balisawsaw”, she said. Later, I found her sitting on the floor outside the toilet’s door, crying in pain. Oh no, I told myself, another hospital visit, another long wait in the ER! God, I hope she will be all right.
We headed for Cardinal Santos Medical Hospital as it was where her doctor, Dra. Sioksoan Chan-Cua (a famed pediatrician and endocrinologist) was holding clinic. One can’t avoid to have a list of hospitals, if one has a large family. Each child, a particular doctor. She was really in pain. One the way to the hospital, my husband started reciting the Holy Rosary and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. I was holding Angela’s hands all the time, and we both joined the prayers. I noticed that Angela has stopped crying. When we reached the hospital, she has improved significantly.
The doctors took her temperature and other vital signs. I coolly filled out forms and answered questions, while observing the sorry state of the hospital. The hospital, at least for the ER and nearby units, needs a lot of refurbishment and repairs, although I noticed that the reception area has been modernized. Don’t you think I am now an expert on ERs?
Angela’s urinalysis was normal, pain has totally stopped, and we headed for home. Angela, while appreciating the full moon, told me that while we were praying on the way to the hospital, the pain went away little by little. What do I call it? Simply a miracle – another answered prayer. Yes, the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy is a powerful prayer. I can attest to a lot of miracles in the family, big and small, that have happened since we started praying it. And praying the Holy Rosary as a family in the evening, has kept our family together.

It was indeed a miracle … I’m glad that Angela’s okay now.
(:
Prayers are really powerful. Although some of mine are still not answered yet, I won’t lose hope. Maybe I just need to pray harder.
What happened to Angela, a miracle indeed.
It’s good to hear that everything’s alright. We should never stop believing in miracles.
Oh, thank God she’s now okay.
My daughter was sick last night too, she had abdominal pain and diarrhea. She was writhing in pain already and I was thinking of bringing her to the hospital na, but she called me to massage warm oil on her tummy and pray over her. So I did. While massaging her, I prayed aloud for healing. And after a while, the pain slowly disappeared. She already went to school this morning.
Thanks for sharing this. It reaffirms our faith and trust in God.
And you should be commended, Sexy Mom, for being able to gather all your seven children in your fold by praying the rosary. That’s not an easy job.
Prayer is the best medicine ! This is a proven fact and tested. Good thing she’s feeling better now. Were you able to find a gown that meets her standard? Am sure she’ll excited to go to that prom party ! Enjoy and have fun
!
Christ was truly with you during that car trip, answering your prayers. =)
Difference in beliefs aside, I’m glad that your daughter Angela is feeling well now.
thanks to you all. angela is well, no more pain.
haze, tomorrow, we will go to the mall to shop for an appropriate prom dress. all her siblings are excited. she’s going 16, it’s her first prom.
hope daughter is ok now, rhodora, dear. kids love the massage.
Prayers work that science sometimes fail to explain. Take our Jehovahs Witnesses here that by law can not be forced by the authorities to perform procedure on them, like blood transfusion, no matter if it is by the judgements of medical staff a matter of life and death, but wonder of wonder their love ones most often recovers without the procedure, but alternative ones.
But still, it would be prudent to have a follow up thorough exams on your child to be on the safe side. Sometimes some symptons could be just lurking and need a complete analysis.
Hallelujah.
And sometimes mothers do have healing hands. Notice how a child stops to fret once we stroke and hug them?
I am glad Angela is okay and getting ready to attend prom night.
HE is the master of the worlds, those within it, and outside it, those comprehensible and incomprehensible by humans. Indeed, if you ask sincerely, HE is always there, without physical unit of distance.
Good thing Angela is fine now.
Indeed, praying the rosary as a family would ensure that you would all be united even when the kids have all grown up. I’m glad that Angela is okay. How exciting for her to go to the prom.
BTW, you know how the hospitals are terrible here diba? So I always go to Bangkok to see the doctor. I’m sure you know… but I so much love the hospitals in Bangkok… so modern… parang hotel. I’m sad that the hospitals in Manila are not like that when I’m sure our doctors and nurses are so much better.
hi Dine,
I am glad Angela is doing well now. Miracle does happen through prayers. I remember a passage from Isaiah, “Before they call, I will answer, and while they are yet speaking, I will listen.
Hope she finds the most beautiful dress for her prom. Please take pictures and share it with us.
Have a good day!
yes, Toe, i know how it is in phnom penh. i have a number of friends who need to go to singapore or bangkok for their medicals. one time i brought a friend to SOS, 2 hours in the ER, for minimum treatment and we had to pay about $300! btw – the medical city is like a hotel, comparable now to those in bangkok and singapore. st luke’s, too, has been renovated.
yes, belle, will share with her prom pictures (not that i will be there)
point taken, vic – she goes for regular check up, will tell her doctor about it.
true dimaks, there are simply too many things, comprehensible and otherwise, that happen in our lives.
I got teary-eyed while reading this post, Dine! Wow! It truly is a miracle, what happened to Angela. Praise God!
Our family suffered 2 losses already but we still pray the rosary together every night and I believe that this has been one of the instruments in keeping us intact despite all the trials coming our way.
God bless you and your family always, Dine!
true, true, Sasha!
Prayers are really powerful,it can make impossible possible.
I’m glad your daughter is okay.same thing happened to me 2yrs ago when i went on vacation in PI,my urinalysis indicated i had UTI.
Hi Dine. First of all, I’m glad that your daughter is now safe and free from pain. You know this post is just what I need. I feel that I have been neglecting the essence of prayers. Sometimes, I just forget to pray. I know being busy is never an excuse. When I was single and used to live with my parents, we recited the rosary every night. But I didn’t continue the practice when I got married and moved to my own house. I’m feeling down today because of something I cannot share on my blog and hope that prayers will help me solve it. Perhaps, God is just giving me a gentle poke. Maybe I just need to go back to Him. I’m sure he’ll be there for me. Thanks Dine.
thanks, Jaja, she had a urinalysis, which showed negative results. she’s ok now, excited about her first prom party tomorrow.
Rach – i am touched. trust in the good Lord, there is a reason for everything. will pray for you.
i pray the rosary since it is effective. If i have time, i do it twice a day – one to thank God for all the blessings He has given me – even if at times i feel i don’t deserve all of it; and a second praying of the rosary to ask God for my special intentions.
those who don’t pray the rosary should try it… it is very powerful.
