A Letter to Mommy, A Letter to Daddy on Chato’s HS Graduation

March 26th, 2009 by Sexy Mom · Viewed 1621 times · 15 Comments

Very seldom do we now receive letters in printed form or hand-written. For me, they are notches higher than the e-letter or e-mail. But chances are, over the years they may be lost or damaged—electronic medium is an alternative or back up.

Chato wrote separate letters for me and her dad, as part of the Baccalaureate Mass and Appreciation Activity in her school in Miriam College this morning. Graduation proper is on Sunday.

She has agreed to post her letter (as she does when I post her poems), which I am sharing with you, dear Readers.

Dear Mommy,

First of all, I want to thank you for being the best mom and the best friend that I ever had. Thank you for all the sacrifices that you’ve made and for always trying to understand us. I know that there may be times when I may be a little distant but it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to keep an open relationship with you. Maybe, I’m just busy or I just tend to be quiet at times. I know how hard it is to raise seven children and I admire you for being able to raise all of us well.

I also know how hard it is to listen to all our complaints and needs all at the same time. That is why I just keep quiet at times. At least may isa kang anak na hindi hihingi pag lahat sila nagpapabili. HAHA. Don’t be sad when you can’t always give us what we want because we understand. Whenever I see you cry because of not being able to give them what they are asking for, I really get disappointed because I know and you know that you deserve better treatment from each and every one of us.

I want to say sorry for all the times that I have disappointed you, have made you worried, and have made you stay up the whole night thinking where I am. Now that I’m 18, a young adult maybe, I know that I have bigger responsibilities to take and more challenges to face. Thank you for all the learning that I’ve gained from you which would help me turn into the responsible lady that everyone expects me to become. I’m sorry for all the times that I have disrespected you and made you feel less important.

Don’t think that as we grow older, your role as our mother becomes smaller because it is the complete opposite of that. As we grow, the more we realize how important you are to us. I would not have passed the ACET and UPCAT if not for you. You have always been part of what I’ve achieved and what I’ve become as a person. More than anyone else, you are the one whom I can turn to and who will understand me most. I also want to say sorry for all the times that I’ve taken for granted the “freedom” that you have given us. I’m sorry for the times that I’ve drank too much, went home late without asking for permission, not being an honor student in high school, and for all the times that I have ignored my responsibilities.

I promise that I will do better in college and give you less things to worry about. I promise that I will become a better daughter, sister, and person. I LOVE YOU MOMMY, AND I ALWAYS WILL. ☺

Dear Daddy,

First of all, I want to thank you for everything that you have done for us. Thank you for all the sacrifices you’ve made and for always being there to understand. I know that it is not easy to raise seven children and I admire you and mom for being able to raise all of us well. Even though you have not been that expressive through words, I know that you still care and that you love each and every one of us. Maybe that is your own way of showing us how you feel.

I know that we have not been really close and I hate to think that it is too late for that. Ever since then, I really wanted to have an open relationship with you. I want to be able to tell you how my day went, how I feel, or just talk about anything. That is why I really appreciate it whenever you tell us stories from your childhood, the things you do as a teenager, and the like.

I want to say sorry for all the times that I have disappointed you and let you down. Sorry for the times that I have forgotten my responsibilities as a daughter, sister, student, and as a person. Now that I’m 18, I know that I have bigger responsibilities to take and bigger challenges to face. Thank you for all the learning that I’ve gained from you which will help me turn into the responsible lady that everyone expects me to become.

Thank you for supporting me, especially during the times that I was preparing for college. Part of why I decided to take medicine and become a doctor is because of the conversation we had once wherein you told me that you wanted to have a doctor in the family. You made me feel that I can do anything as long as I have faith and I work hard for it. I would not have passed the ACET and UPCAT if not for you. I offer everything to you and mommy.

Thank you so much for everything. I promise that I will do better in college and I will not let you down. I LOVE YOU AND I ALWAYS WILL. ☺

Thank you Chat! We are so proud of you, and WE LOVE YOU AND WE ALWAYS WILL—from Mommy, Daddy and your siblings.

I was crying while reading the letter. Punong-puno ng pamamahal sa pamilya. The parents should be very proud of their kids. I am sure these kids will be have a better future because the parents had bequeath them a future that is bright guided by wisdom and love.
