Truth and Accountability Mass@ATENEO

Date: Monday, February 18, 2008
Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Location: Church of the Gesu, Ateneo de Manila University

Vince and I attended the Mass—-it was a mass in search of TRUTH, ACCOUNTABILITY AND REFORM. It was a mass concelebrated with two bishops, and several Jesuit priests. There were rows of Carmellite sister, the Sumilao farmers, whose 144 hectares of land have been taken away, and they chose to walk from their hometown to Manila.

Engr. Jun Lozada came after the Mass, and a short program was held after that. As somebody from La Salle, he was so overwhelmed with Ateneo’s show of support, that he said during his speech he would have liked to wear a blue pin once he leaves the Ateneo premises. Vince must have been so touched that he volunteered to give one of his three St Ignatius Award Pins that he received last week during the year-end Recognition Day. As we were seated near Bro. Armin Luistro, president of the De La Salle University, I mentioned to him that Vince would like to grant Engr Lozada’s wish—a blue pin, his blue pin. Bro Armin suggested Vince came to the pulpit where Engr. Lozada was saying his speech. Later Bro. Armin himself brought Vince of 4B, with James of 4A, son of Jimmy Soriano of The Sunday Times.

Vince offered his St Ignatius pin to Engr. Lozada, to the cheers of the audience. Engr Lozada, asked Vince to pin it on his shirt. It was Vince’s shining moment, standing as an Atenean, before former Pres Corazon Aquino, the Atenean community, La Sallites, and the civil society, AD MAJOREAM DIE GLORIAM (All for the glory of God). At that moment, there was no more disctinction of Ateneo or La Salle. Engr. Lozada got his wish at that moment—an Ateneo pin. Vince worked so hard for that pin but he was willing to part with it, as a symbol of the youth’s acceptance of the challenge to stand up to what the youth believe in—in search for the truth.

Willerd Cheng of Channel 2 interviewed Vincent, and the short segment was aired on Bandila. And I was there, too, in the video clip.

I was not familiar with operating the video cam, so here are two pieces that I took:

See that tiny blue pin by my neckline? That’s the Ateneo pin Vince gave to Engr. Lozada.

I saw you on the news last night!! I was actually half asleep when I saw the name “Vince Racoma”. I swear to God, I woke up in half a second. Next thing I know, there you are beside him :)

Tita, what is the blue pin about actually and how do you earn it? I’d love to know about it because it sounds really interesting. And finally I can see former president Cory Aquino in the photo!

    (:

What a selfless act. I do hope Lozada gets all the support he needs to go thru this harrowing time. Most of all, I do hope for one “justice” is served and those liable are held accountable – no more rights to privacy.

Bilib ako sa anak mo Sexy Mom. This young, he understands the importance of such a simple act.

wow. it’s certainly one of the most unforgettable moment.

... and I believe in Jun Lozada’s testimonies. and it’s already too obvious that the accused officials are trying hard to find a way out…

    Congratulations to Vince!

And congratulations to you too, Tita Dine.

I’m very sure that Vince’s altruism is a testament of the love and the values that his parents have instilled in him.

I admire Vince’s generous and noble gesture to show his support to Engr. Jun Lozada.

Now that the truth has come out, I hope that justice can be served. I also hope that peace will reign.

Dine, this is great and I would like to congratulate you and Daddy A for being good parents, for bringing up Vince this way, selfless.

Vince, may you continue to do your best not just to please your parents and other people but for the greater glory of God.

Your young man did such a selfless gesture. You must have felt like you were floating on clouds Mommy Dine. You and your husband raised him well. :)

Indeed I am very proud of my son Vincent. But as the priest said in his homily today at Greenbelt Chapel, “We can only make a discernment between two goods not between good and evil as per St. Ignatius of Loyola. It is still a sin whether you take 10 pieces of bond paper or 1 ream from your office. There could only be a real change if those who are clamoring for change are not the ones who want to sit on the throne.” I can only hope and pray that our youth and unsuspecting citizens are not being used as pawns by two evils (oligarchs and vested interests) where there can be no discernment.

Vince, I am so proud of you. My husband texted me at the time you were shown in last night’s TV patrol. Proud din kami. I know you are an intelligent person to discern what is right and wrong. The future of our country lies in YOU, the youth.

Dine, we can only do so much for our kids.We as parents will not live forever. We can guide our kids only. In the end, the choice is theirs. I trust the educated youth will be the moving force of our country.

  • Belle // Feb 21, 2008 at 8:23 am

I was so touched of what Vince did. Not very many kids would give away something that they work so hard for. I salute you, Dine and hubby, for raising a wonderful kid.

  • Jake // Mar 7, 2008 at 8:30 am

Ateneo is using Jun Lozada at the same time Jun Lozada is using Ateneo.

Let’s add Joey de Venecia to the roster of present heroes. After all, the Jun and Joey tandem was suppose to receive a huge amount of bribe had Amsterdam Holdings won the bidding.

Have you forgotten CyberEd and Phil forest brouhaha? Jun should also expose his corrupt ways there. This will solidify his statue as the new kind of Filipino hero. A new paradigm for would be heroes of the future.

Steal now then expose later if the kickback will not materialize.

Thank you Jun. My hero. Ateneo’s hero. The people’s hero. At last my moral dilemma has been solved. Got get those deals coming…

  • Jake // Mar 7, 2008 at 8:33 am

“I can only hope and pray that our youth and unsuspecting citizens are not being used as pawns by two evils (oligarchs and vested interests) where there can be no discernment.”

Dad. It’s ok to be used by oligarchs. We are Ateneans who belong to the oligarchy. It’s ok. Really.

Is the Joey de Venecia-Jun Lozada connection unclear?

  • Jake // Mar 7, 2008 at 8:37 am

How about the GMA-Razon connection? Dig deeper. Bro. Armin should think about tearing down a gymnasium in Taft. How about that La Salle brothers? Who is Ricky Razon? He’s been linked by Joey de Venecia to the scam. He’s also been tagged by Jose Almonte as one of the oligarchs tha must be stopped.

  • Jake // Mar 7, 2008 at 8:44 am

Show these children the lists of alumni from Ateneo who are in connivance with Atenean Mike Arroyo and Georgetown Jesuit trained GMA.

Atenean William Esposo is right. Most of the crooks in government right now are Ateneans.

Show us the list. Tell us the truth. Otherwise this Jesuit school has no moral ascendancy to lead.
