Mary for you!
For you’re White and Blue!
We pray you’ll keep us, Mary
Constantly true!
We pray you’ll keep us, Mary
Faithful to you.
It’s October, the month of the Holy Rosary, it is also the month when Ateneans, or followers of Mama Mary for that matter, wear the October Medal. Wearing the October Medal is a tradition that started way back in the early 50’s when the Ateneo moved from to the Loyola Heights Campus in Quezon City from its old site in Padre Faura. As Father Tito Caluag once said, wearing the October Medal is a way of proclaiming that we are Ateneans: sons of God, sons of Ignatius, sons of Mary.
Hundreds of October Medals were blessed last night at the Church of the Gesu and distributed to the faithful. My family wears the October Medal—we propagate the special devotion to Mama Mary.
