Today, the 16th of April 2010 marks the 83rd birthday of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. He was born on 16 April 1927 as Joseph Alois Ratzinger in Bavaria, Germany. He has a very impressive background and was elected the 265th pope, succeeding the well-loved Pope John Paul II in April 2005.
As pope, he holds the highest post in the Catholic Church. Still, the faithful are invoked to pray for His Holiness.

Pope Benedict XVI said during his homily at his inaugural Mass as Bishop of Rome:
My dear friends,
At this moment I can only say: pray for me, that I may learn to love the Lord more and more.
Pray for me, that I may learn to love his flock more and more.
In other words, you, the holy Church, each one of you and all of you together.
Pray for me, that I may not flee for fear of the wolves.
Let us pray for one another, that the Lord will carry us and that we will learn to carry one another.
Yes, let us pray for Pope Benedict XVI and greet His Holiness Happy 83rd Birthday!
