Now after the ADMU win, another high! Vince, 4th year HS, got his grades today, and he could not help but holler a good YES! YES! YES! You see, at midterms, his grades were not good enough for the honors. He said 4th year was difficult. Look at this. The grades in the first column are the midterm grades, the grades in the second are the targetted grades, while the grades in the right are the actual grades:
English: (C+) (C+) (B)
Filipino: (C+) (B) (B)
Mathematics: (B) (C+) (C+)
Science: (C+) (B) (B)
Social Studies: (B) (B+) (B+)
CLE: (B) (B+) (B+)
Arts: (B+) (A) (A)
So there, after the final tally, his average is 3.17 (from a QPI of 2.83), which is above the minimum QPI of 3 to qualify for 3rd honors. He was very happy because he worked so hard for this. Imagine, to get 1 notch grades higher than what were achieved at midterms.
Time for an interview, I asked Vince (he is at home because it is card day) and BA (who happens to be home for a school break) what their secrets are to raise their grades significantly. Here goes:
1. Aim for the moon and land among the stars.
2. Have an inspiration.
3. Watch UAAP games.
4. Believe, strive, achieve
5. Be in incommunicado. Snub everyone, even your parents.
6. Stop blogging.
7. Eat lots of chocolates.
But seriously, I told them, give me serious answers. On the second round, I got their serious answers.
1. Focus on your goal. Make your goals real and doable.
2. Work hard, study hard. Even if it means studying 7 straight hours with only water break and munch breaks in between.
3. Sacrifice. Give up gimmicks (all), no matter how much you want to join your friends. Vince, a social person, gave up the gimmicks on those 3 whole weeks.
4. Catch up on sleep at any given chance.
5. Don’t miss your prayers.
6. If all else fails: Cram and BELIEVE!
