“Angel of God, my guardian dear to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day/night be at my side to light, to guard, to rule and guide. Amen.”

-  a prayer we know by heart since we were small.

Today is the Feast of the Guardian Angels (3 days after the Feast of the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael). It is so comforting to know that we have guardian angels to protect, nurture and guide us at all times, and as parents, it is so reassuring to know that an angel protects our little ones from dangers, real and imagined.

I believe in angels, and I have my own angel story to share.

My Angel Story

Then it happened. As my doctors and their assistants circled around me in the operating room, I saw him. He was standing at my left side, opposite my doctor, behind the assistants. The man was tall, lean, fair and very handsome—and he had wings! An angel! He stood like a guard, tenderly watching over me, with one of his wings raised like he wanted to cover me with warmth and security. I gazed at him, at least feeling at peace with my decision, until the anaesthesiologist administered the anaesthesia, and I drifted into nothingness.

When I woke up in the recovery room, he was the first thing I saw. My angel was still there on watch. He was silvery, almost transparent, but real. He brought down his raised wing and then left, passing through the closed door!

It was too beautiful a vision to share. It took me quite a while to tell my husband and family—and then much later to my friends—about my angel, who I know was sent by God to let me know He was happy with my decision.

Another beautiful sharing—that of Fr. Jose Maniyangat, Life After Death Experience, is found here.

Who Is Your Guardian Angel?

It is believed that your Guardian Angel is identified depending on the day of your birth. I have seen this in some emails.

Monday: Gabriel—Special Messenger of God
Tuesday: Raphael—Healer and Guide for the Special Pilgrim
Wednesday: Uriel—Archangel of Justice
Thursday: Sealtiel—Archangel of Worship and Contemplation
Friday:  Jhudiel—Archangel of Divine Mercy
Saturday:  Barachiel—Archangel of Divine Providence
Sunday: Michael—Prince of Heavenly Hosts

HAPPY FEAST OF THE GUARDIAN ANGELS TO ALL OF YOU!

I was born on a friday and i learned from a catholic bookstore that my guardian angel is St. Judiel. Was there any mistake? Here, it is St. Uriel who is called the Archangel of Divine Mercy.

Sexy Mom: You are right, Lalaine, it was a typo on my side, Friday’s angel is St. Jhudiel, Archangel of Divine Mercy. St. Uriel is Wednesday’s angel, Archangel of Justice. I have corrected my entry. Thanks.

I have an angel icon in my room—I can see him now as I glance up the cabinet overhanging my work (and play hahaha) station at home. His name is St. Judiel. A niece gave him to me. I dunno why she chose Judiel. But I don’t ask questions. I just feel okay with St. Judiel around.

I believe in angelic and otherworldly and divine presences when we need them most. So that must really be your angel standing guard while you were operated on.
