That was 8 October 2009, almost a month ago—when Ateneo won its Second Back-to-Back Championships (a 71-58 win against the UE Red Warriors, UAAP Season 72). Monica and I were among the 18,851 spectators at the Araneta Coliseum. We didn’t have tickets—and at the last minute, I was able to manage to get 8 tickets, shared with some other friends. Earlier, the Blue Eaglets beat La Salle—they too were Back-to-Back Champions in their division.

That was the day the BLUEs blew my blues away. We were ecstatic, not only with smiles on our faces as we jumped and hugged and went home happy. Ang sarap maging Atenista! Went home for a shower then proceeded with the 6 kids to the Church of the Jesu for a Thanksgiving Mass—the church was practically a sea of blue and white. What a night to thank and praise the Lord, what a night to listen to the Champs, as they shared their experiences and feelings. What a night to sing the Hail Mary Song, the Ateneo song.
Twas only the kids’ camera phones we had that night, but that was fine—here, see these.
