The Cat That Touched My Heart–Happy Mother’s Day!

This is a short story about the Cat that touched my heart, an apt story on Mother’s Day.
The Cat that Touched My Heart. About 2 weeks ago, we found a Cat in our driveway. She had with her a tiny Kitty, following her everywhere she went. Me and my kids developed an instant liking to this Cat and her Kitty. Even though we could not bring them inside our premises, as the kids have an inclination for being allergic, we knew that mother and child would be there within our reach.
So, for a few days, we would see them playing around. Kitty was akin to a shadow to Mother Cat. Kitty would grow stronger by the day—the wind beneath the wings of Mother Cat. Pretty soon, we thought, Kitty would be on its own.
One morning, we found Kitty dead, blood all over its face. Apparently, Kitty was run over by a car. We all felt so sad, we found Mother Cat outside the gate, meowing—crying. She looked very very sad, perched on a rock, where she and Kitty used to hang out.
Day in and day out, rain or shine, we would always find Mother Cat in the same spot, silent, crying no more, head bowed—she was grieving. Until a few days ago, a few days after Kitty died, Mother Cat has finally left her rock. She seemed to have started moving on, leading a life anew.
Mother Cat touched my heart—she was as cat-like as possible in her actions—taking care of Kitty, nursing it, happily playing, later grieving, then moving on, in the same way that humans would. Mothers have that close bond with their children, nurturing them, feeling every bit of emotions—love, joy, even grief, and moving on.
Happy Mother’s Day! As I am reminded by Mother Cat, let me greet each one of you dear Readers, who are moms, your mothers, sisters, cousins, in-laws, aunts, friends, daughters, daughters-in-law, and the OFW moms who are far from their children, a Happy Mother’s Day
Special mention goes to my mom, Juliet, to my daughter-in-law, Caren, and my best friends Bing and Lucy. And to you, too, my Blog Friends. Happy Mother’s Day!

Oh I love cat story. Happy Mother’s day. heh despite the initial hassles, you still made it through the day.
oo, ganun din ako, sa antipolo, when we took the apartment for rent, the cat and her two babies are there. And I saw her how she fed her little ones!
she would sneak two pieces of meat in the market nearby, and chew it into small pieces for the babies.
Frenchman said: Look at her, she is just an animal but she takes care her little ones, better than humans.
Mother cat will find a mate and will have a new one soon. Ready ka ba ulit to adopt them one day?
Post mo uli ha, if she comes back.
Happy Mother’s Day, Sexy Mom! =)
CHEERS to all the mother’s in the world!
belated happy mother`s day to you,sexy mom!!*hugs*
What a sad story. Animals being run over seems to be a sad reality. I always see an animal (racoons, squirrels, cats, etc) nearly everyday that’s been run over on my drive to work or school or what have you. What can be done about it?
Anyway, on a lighter note, belated happy mother’s day.

Happy Mother’s Day Tita!
Oh, how sad and tragic. But I guess mother cats don’t have the maternal instinct that we humans have – keeping our children safe from harm, even at the cost of our very lives.
Belated happy mother’s day! As pining said, better late than never.

It’s a sad and touching story. Life can sometimes be a mixture of good and bad, highs and lows, laughter and tears. I just hope that we will always find ways to overcome the low points and sad events in our lives and be able to look forward to better days. Thanks for sharing.
