I have always liked attending weddings, but nowadays, they are scarce. When I was younger, and not yet married, I liked best the part when the wedding vows were said, the most common “I, (name), take you (name), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, from this day forward until death do us part.” I would even repeat the vows in my mind. Nowadays, wedding vows are more personalized.
My staff, Andrea will get married 30 days from now. Before she logged off she YM’d me (as all the other virtual assistants would, from their homes), to say good-bye, it struck both of us as we were talking about the planned staff leaves in December that in 30 days, she would get married. She had been preparing for her wedding since December 2007 (yes, one year in the making), and this is the last leg of her preparations. She did not like the idea of a wedding planner.
Andrea has a wedding blog–the details of her wedding.
30 days will fly so fast, I told her, and before she knows it, she will be walking down the aisle, and her wedding, that she has prepared for in a year, will just pass in a flash! Before she knows it, the wedding is over–the wedding becomes a marriage–it will be the beginning of the rest of her life and that of her husband.
I understand how emotional she is now, filled with mixed emotions, such that at any given opportunity, she is cryful. She must be so overwhelmed–so many things happening, unfinished documentations, invitations to deliver, future-in-laws coming, last minute preparations, and many many more that 30 days now seem insufficient. What is important is that she is filled with love in her heart, ready to begin the rest of her life with her husband to be, and making the marriage–the rest of their lifetime work, the way her parents and her parents-in-law continue to do. And the way Ms. Dine (and that is me) also continues to do.
And so, Andrea and Leo, 30 days from now, I will wish you both “Happy Wedding Day, Happy Marriage and Happy Lifetime!”

Ms. Dine, I am really overwhelmed with this write-up. No frills but really I know it comes from you heart (as always) and I can feel it so much. Was cryful when reading it (drama queen). Thank you so much
