For 2009 UPCAT and 2009 ACET Results, please go here
What a pleasant surprise, to receive news at past midnight—that Vince passed the UPCAT (BS Business Administration)! Congratulations, Vince! Now, it will be your choice—Ateneo’s Management Engineering or UP’s BS Business Administration. The results were posted at past 10pm, Friday, 10 January. Vince is away on a Tagaytay retreat, but a friend Patrick called up Steph to say that Vince and a couple of other friends passed the UPCAT. It seems like the results have been posted at around 9 pm at the Office of Admissions (take note, not Solidor Hall, but the new Office of Admissions, the new building near it).
RESULTS ARE NOW ONLINE: http://upcat.up.edu.ph/results. Traffic will now be heavy in this website.
I went personally to UP, and confirmed for myself that Vince has indeed passed, the first course of his choice (BSBA), and not BS Economics as relayed to him. This is the reason why you have to go personally to get first hand information.
As soon as the results are posted online, I will update this article. Good luck to you all who took the UPCAT.
For those who have options, here’s some thought: Ateneo or UP?
Incidentally, J Angelo completed his college at UP’s College of Economics, with a few more units—he will have completed his Masters in Economics, too. BA is in his second year college at UP—Applied Physics.
Now, I will have 2 children in college, 1 in Ateneo Law school, 2 in high school and 1 in grade school. Meaning, I can relate with moms of kids of all ages (as this includes my 2 pretty granddaughters who are 3 and 5 yo).
Again, congratulations Vince, and to all of you who took the UPCAT, good luck!

If I were u Dine, I wont give him a choice Ill decide for him.UP of course….its a cheaper but more enlightening environment for learning.
Taga UP ako eh!
SexyMom: Thanks, Betty. We will guide him in the same way as we did with BA. Look at this: my post “Ateneo or UP?” http://dine.racoma.com.ph/celebration/ateneo-or-up/
In the end, it will still be his choice which we will support.

hi. UP is still UP… lessons, professors, books, etc maybbe of same “quality” but it is the TRAINING (Policies in UP are so different) what made UP students outstand others.
SexyMom: Thanks, Charlene. We will guide Vince, but in the end, it will be his choice which we will support Look at this: my post called “Ateneo or UP?” http://dine.racoma.com.ph/celebration/ateneo-or-up/

Wow. Management Engineering is my first choice in Ateneo. My first choice in UP is also Business Administration. Haha. What a coincidence! :))

hi! it’s my first time to visit your blog, though i’ve read about it in sir martin’s blog before.
congrats to your son!
last year, i had to choose between up’s and ateneo’s cs programs. i chose ateneo and am really glad i did. and my friends in up are very happy with their decisions too. i guess it’s all about what his heart tells him to follow. i knew i belonged to the competitive yet loving and nurturing environment of a jesuit university.
good luck to him.
oh and i read the Ateneo or UP post’s comments. though it’s true that ateneo is a sheltered community, people who know how to push themselves and make most of the opportunities that the ateneo has to offer will definitely be removed from their comfort zones and have a lot of chance to grow into positive movers and shapers of this country.

UP or Ateneo? hahaha…
Both are good schools, but only one will prepare you for the real world.

It really is a difficult decision. I passed in both UP and Ateneo, and I’m having a hard time deciding. Money plays a big factor of course, since UP obviously can help my parents a lot. Both are my dream schools, but the course I passed in Ateneo is much better compared than in UP.. so I’m really having a hard time discerning what I think would be best for me.
I hope your son makes the right decision as well. Congratulations po!

wow. you are the mom of vince pala. he was my batchmate in grade school. transferred to phil sci for high school. and i have pretty much the same dilemma. ateneo or up. and since la salle didn’t give me any scholarship, it’s out of the question. :)) well, i guess, he’ll still choose ateneo. take me for an example. i didn’t have my hs in ateneo but i still prefer going there for college. the ateneo can really put into you the thought that it is a great school (kahit na #2) and that you are part of it. i have really learned to love it. students from UPIS i know aren’t really ecstatic of retuning to their elementary-secondary school unlike how ateneans are.
anyway, congrats to all those who passed!

Karla: You can always shift.
I chose UP even though I didn’t like my course there, and then I was able to shift a year after to my preferred course.

hello! i would suggest that you choose UP
although both UP and Ateneo are great, UP offers students a very different type of experience! lessons are not spoon fed, responsibility is honed coz of the freedom, you become competitive coz almost everyone is smart, you meet people from different walks of life (both literally and figuratively.) as what they all say “UP is still UP. iba ang graduate ng UP.”
