From out of the blues, BA suggested that we go to Manila Seedling Bank (along EDSA corner Quezon Avenue) one hot summer day the other day. A few days before that, Monica, Vince and I brought the 2 little ‘uns there–and I asked, “Now do you believe there is a Secret Garden near our home?” “Yes! Yes!” was all they could say in awe of the plants and the flowers. Even the narra tree was crowned with its yellow blooms. The little ‘uns enjoyed the short visit and we brought home some flowers for them, and a few ones for us.

BA was reminded of Plants vs Zombies (he was the Zombie he said) while the plants and flowers attacked and picked his brains, and by the time we have finished our stroll, smelling the flowers and appreciating them along the way, he was refreshed (perhaps forgot about MATLAB and all his other applied physics-related work).

It is flower therapy for me–now BA understands why Monica and I would just go the the Seedling Bank and come home de-stressed, feeling good, even if we have brought only a few flowers and plants. Oh! If only I could be like them people tending the flowers and the plants, if only life were that easy, if only life were that relaxed…but then we have to get back to the real world. Well, it’s a matter of choice–or luck? Maybe, just maybe, one day when I am free of my family obligations (that should be about 10 years from now as the little boy will start high school in June), I could just be like them. I could live on my pension, have my own secret garden and just let time fly me by. Maybe I could even be offline forever. What can online benefit me, if I have my family who loves me truly near at hand.

These wonderful creations of God remind me that indeed life is beautiful. They remind me that indeed the Almighty is just there–in control of everything.

Amidst the plants and the flowers is like being in a different world. I just wish that we continue to take care of our environment and make up for the past abuses, so that our children and the generations to come can still experience the beauty of God’s creations.

And now I am back to reality, though this leaves a twist on the lips and a smile on the face–I have my own garden and a balcony filled with sampaguita blooms, roses, petunias, santans, forget-me-nots, and many more. And the bougainvilleas? Goody–they will require a full post (BA–remember your promise?)

Ahhhh!!! LIFE IS WONDERFUL. HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE!

It’s March, and as summer crawls in…the next few days and weeks are expected to grow hotter and hotter (or is it warmer and warmer?). Schools are wrapping up in two weeks for summer vacation, and I can understand why–the hot summer days are not conducive for kids to be in school. March and April are the months for graduation. I have two children graduating this year, Chato from high school and Monica from law school. Vince and BA have already made plans to go for summer classes in UP, while Pau and my youngest child Alan Jr will go for their review classes–yes, Pau and Alan Jr are graduating next year, from high school and grade school. While Pau wil be reviewing for ACET and UPCAT (what great pressure, she says, with all her older siblings passing both ACET and UPCAT), Alan Jr has plans to move to Ateneo High School. He is the only one not in Ateneo, so he will try his very best for the high school entrance test.

In between the kids’ summer activities in school, theater, gymnastics, swimming, etc., there are so many things in summer for the family to chill. In the meantime, sorbetes anyone?
