UPDATES: IS IT OVER?
As of 6:20 pm, the renegade senator and soldiers, together with their supporters, have gone out of the hotel. The senator has been arrested!
And what have they gained? for me NOTHING! They must have really thought that people would go out in the streets for another “people power”. NO WAY! People are tired, they just want peace. Where are the supposedly 11 million people who voted for him?
In the meantime, the economy is hurt again. The hotel has been damaged. Some hotel guests, who have been exposed to trauma must have sworn never to return again. And the reputation of the country—it’s fragile security situation, has been announced again to the world.
How insensitive!

Noemi has blogged about Trillanes and Lim Camped at Peninsula in Makati.
I was so busy this morning working on a deadline, and saw on TV what was happening. Little did I know that when I got back from church and a late lunch, a lot have already happened.
Hotel guests have been moving out one after the other. I just hope and pray that no one gets hurt. Tension is everywhere.
Warrants of arrest, I heard have been issued—for contempt of court, and a deadline of 3 pm was given for the group to turn themselves in. At 4:30 pm, the government soldiers have fired their warning shots, while the main door of the Manila Peninsula Hotel has been closed. A tank/APC has entered the hotel premises, with SWAT, PNP, and soldiers in full battle gear, while other tanks roll by the area.
And the media—can we blame them? I really do not know. They are risking life and limb, amidst the action, just to be able to report to the people what is happening. At the same time, they give these renegade soldiers all the media exposure they want, which could somehow stir the hearts of people—either for them or against them.
It seems like a wait and see situation for supporters of both camps—the government and the renegade soldiers. While the government is bent to finish this fiasco off, the renegade soldiers are standing by their cause, till death they say.
Oh, why do they need to do this? Why this violence? It’s hurting the economy. It’s hurting the ordinary man in the streets, the ordinary worker, our children and their future.
Is it planned? See for yourself, see this.
Another coup? Really, we don’t need it!
Friends, we need a lot of prayers—let’s pray that God brings our country together, that He helps us reach what we good citizens aspire for—a peaceful, prosperous, humane and truly God-fearing Philippines. May God grant wisdom to each Filipino and Filipina, especially our leaders, so that they will change for good and godly ways.

“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow them.”
---Louisa May Alcott

So meron na curfew. shaks, just like during marcos era ha. Is this some kind of a preview?
Anyhow, let me share what my son wrote in his blog about this misadventure.
There was a mutiny in Manila Peninsula by the same person four years ago. In what part of the world do you have soldiers parading their stance in rather expensive places, while asking the mass to support them? Let’s calculate this shall we. Ayala is found in Makati. Makati is the business center. As the business center, one could pretty much assume that it is expensive there (what with all the expats and all). So how do you exactly expect masses to come to such a distant, expensive place? Also note that the same act was done four years back in the same periphery. Do correct me, but I heard no news that people came strolling at the area then. So why exactly would they go frolicking there now? For a poor country, our upstagings are held in hotels, and still they seem to falter. Maybe they should try a cheaper hotel. Heck maybe they should try it NOT on a hotel, and NOT in Makati nor Ayala Ave. Try Tawi Tawi next time. Or Babuyan Islands. I think that rather than a mutiny, it looked like a not-so-well directed play. Do I have to put it again? This is sad!
this is going cyclic and repetitive.. so much have been done, yet no lessons learned.
napaka-overrated na tuloy ng people power. its true essence is being mocked and abused to the point that people would think it’s a joke when someone calls for it. kaawa-awang pilipinas.
Tita, I hope everyone is fine and hasn’t been harmed because of Trillanes’ coup action. May everything be back to normal soon …
I thought the streets would be deserted because of what happened but traffic was as bad or even worse than the usual one before a long weekend. Everybody went on their usual business, it seems. Nobody took them seriously.
We really don’t need another PEOPLE POWER. It’s true, nakakapagod na watching people in position fighting over themselves wherein they should make our country a much better place to live in.
Nothing was gained with what has happened yesterday, except yung pagiging “bida” uli natin sa ibang bansa.
prayers, we need prayers… insensitive, you are right about that. imagine, he is already a senador, he could have used his powers in there to create laws that would benefit the country, but what did he do? he created more chaos… is this is christmas gifts to those who voted for him?
Dine, thnaks for sharing this….and the site which you shared, for us to read too.
Why needs to become BIDA or BRAVE of nothing….
