One huge, successful, smashing, lovely event–TASTE ASIA’s Bloggers Food Fest

Who would think that an event, given so short a notice—less than 2 weeks, would be so successful, that almost all those who registered (150+) came. Take note, it was on a Tuesday, a weekday, when most of the guests have just come from school, work or home. From Quezon City (or even further) in the North to Cavite (or even further) to the South, bloggers (diverse mix of techies, students, professionals, parents, religious, gays, even 2 eleven-year olds, Robie and Alan, Jr) started coming in from 7 pm onwards.
Yes, I am talking about the Taste Asia Bloggers Food Fest of SM Hypermarket, Mall of Asia held on 3 July. Congratulations, Aileen and the rest of the gang (Sasha Rico Janette Jedi Jay Abe Ely Marc Jayvee Shari Noemi Sexymom Jonas Pierre Jomar Markku Jonas of Yehey and AJ) for making it one huge, successful, smashing, lovely event.
Yes, the food—it was overflowing, from the cocktails, to the main course, and to everyone’s favorite, the heavenly chocolate fondue fountain by Crazy Choco. The service staff were gracious, anticipating the needs of the guests, ensuring that food and drinks were replenished, and the plates and utensils cleared.
There were laptops for use by anyone who wanted to go online for their blogs, emails, and surfing. A new concept for social events, the cliquebooth, was installed—4 shots at 6-second intervals were taken, and voila, in a few minutes the prints were ready. The pictures were then uploaded in the web, at cliquebooth.com.
Emcees Jayvee and Sorsi happily anchored the event, and magician-DJ Marcelle provided the entertainment, highlight of which was solving the Rubik’s cube in 10 minutes—BLINDFOLDED! Almost half of the guests went home happy with their raffle prices, courtesy of Secosana bags, Walker, All Pro, etc.
Most spent the night away meeting the faces behind the blogger’s names, exchanging notes, meeting future blogfriends, and twittering in between—a real bloggers food fest, complemented by delicous food, beer and drinks. I said hello to Joel, Jun Asis, Carla, Julie, Marie, Girlie, Keysi, Jerico, Aldrin and wife Leah, and many others. Hubby joined me, BA, Alan Jr, and J Angelo.
Noemi and I invited Filipina mothers, and asked the guests to encourage their mothers, wives, to join PinoyMomsNetwork, which will again be open to new members on 7 July.
Thanks to the sponsors, Hen Lin, Sanyo, Fruitas, Crazy Choco, Lots A Pizza, Gloria’s, PaoTsin, Citibank, Alvineths Party Needs, Crazy Choco, and Fresh Cuts.
I will come back to Taste Asia one of these days to experience their Asian delight, this time, in a leisurely manner to savor the food. And I promise to tell you about Taste Asia promise of a gastronomic experience, sampled in tonight’s Bloggers Food Fest.

This is such a good thing for us bloggers, like we’ve really gone a long way from simple bloggers meet-up. Now sponsors are coming in. In the near future, events like these could be bigger and grander than it is already right now. Kudos to all!

The food really looks good. It’s a pity i didn’t know about the affair earlier so that i could have come with a friend. when i sit in front of my PC, no food will ever take me away from it.
SexyMom: according to Aileen, management of hypermart might be planning of a part 2, for the benefit of those who have not been able to attend.
